I am always cruising the BINs, even if they are not there right off the bat.  I think you may have gotten a few that I left behind earlier today because I had went to the damn baseball game.

If it makes you feel better I couldn't convince them to combine the shipping for me.  So I'm paying $15 to get a small batch of softcovers shipped.

I think he/she is a bit confused. He sent me 3 invoices, then marked one of the items I BINed as paid without me paying. Then I asked him to send me a combined invoice and he did, but it was only for 2 of the 3 books I BINed. :? I think I might have to walk him through it.

<edit> oh and I just realized he posted me a positve feedback on the book he marked as paid that I haven't paid for yet.

Not only does he have 1500 illegal eBooks up for sale, he also has them listed as a feature item. He is just looking to be slapped down.

Amazingly enough I sent the selle an email and he has now changed his auction listing.  It is now EBooks for Kama Sutra, but what the hell do we care if he sells those. :P

Hello all!

I stumbled onto your forum and wanted to put my 2 cents in.  I have 100's of D&D books (1st-3.5 editions). I  play D&D as well as DM a session once a month.  I am very particular about my books, and would never mark or hi-light in them, so I make copies of the books that I own or at least pages of interest for my gaming sessions. It is very time consuming to scan/print entire handbooks, I wish that WOTC would allow you (for a decent price) to obtain pdfs or some way to use their books in a game session w/o having to mark up the actual book. I hate to admit it but I have purchased some of the items listed in this thread...I know..I know!! I guess it was laziness at heart that led me to buy them..my thought was Gee! someone else has done all the work and I already own the books that are copied so I guess it's ok. I can't be the only person who does this or is in this dilemma. I just wanted to explain my side of the story and see what everyone thought.

Thanks!

As per the US copyright law, it is legal for you make 1 copy of a book that you own. With that though that copy is to be for your own use only and no one elses. You can not even give away your copy. Additionaly, if you chose to sell or give away your original book, according to the copyright law, you MUST destroy the copy. I can totally understand your desire to not want to mark up your books, but in actuality if you participate in buying an illegal copy of book, you may be in fact harming the value of the original book more than if you mark it up wiuth pen/pecil.  One thing that many people don't realize is that the value of your original books decreases (however little it may be) with each illegal copy that gets made and sold. Seriously, why would someone want to buy in jmost circumstances any module or book when they can get a "copy" of one for much less cost then the original.  For every "copy" that someone buys, there is a very good chance that that is one less person looking to buy a real one.

Additionaly, the problem with sellers who sell these pdfs are that they also benefiting from someone elses work without paying them for it, which is the same thing as stealing the money right out of their pockets. Lastly, the people who sell them even if it was legal for them to sell a copy to folks who owned the origianl, would have no real way of determining if the person who was purchasing the copy, actually owned the original or not.  Just my $.02.

BTW, Welcome to the forum.

Great post B, the copyright issue is one that has become a "cause" of mine.  I do completely understand wanting a "copy" for use without ruining your own nice books (I have access to a good copy machine so I go that route) but to have someone profiting from this is just disgusting!

Looks like he's doing it legitimately. He's only offering free links to where the stuff can be downloaded, and WoTC have put them all online. Sneeky marketting.

I think he's keyword spamming at the very least.  Try typing a search without one of his auctions coming up.

Here is another one, and this time its 1st edition material  :

Dungeon Masters Guide Players Handbook AD D D D | eBay

I have been having a lot of success recently informing people that their auction is illegal and having them take them down themselves(see the above posted auction), however I just emailed this new guy and he has refused saying that he is a "licensed dealer".   I the told him directly that I would report him for which he basically laughed it off and said to Say Hi to Anrew.  I have already reported him to both EBay and Wizards, but it might be more efective if more people report him to EBay and Wizards then just me.   Another course of action of course would be for someone to pay him a BIN visit times 6 as he is just sitting out there right now to be shilled. Feel free to blow this ass hole away with negs while the auction is still up.
