It just shows you that Wizards really does not care about anything BUT their d20 Fantasy monstrosity.

And just to confirm, Hasbro is not a member, either.

Apparently, WotC was simply sending a nastygram to those people violating their IP rights, not having it pulled by eBay.

WOTC did a great job taking those auctions down. I hope, Mr. Smith is simply on holiday or something. On the other hand, I could understand if they stopped pursuing these cases. For them, it's no financial gain, but additional work. The only company which is probably financially hurt by those illegal auctions is SVGames, the licensee for PDF versions of the old gaming material.

Perhaps we should be trying to contact SVgames.

I'm not sure, if this helps. SVGames is only the licensee, not the holder of the copyright. As I understand eBay's rules, only the copyright owner can challenge the auction.

If the current auctions aren't stopped, maybe it's not a bad idea to ask Captain PDFKillah to do the job.  8)

Look at the bottom of this one......Talk about grasping for straws.

ATTN:  Ebay staff and Vero program: The information included in this package is compiled by us.   It is assumed that the bidders and winners of this auction already have purchased the original copies of these books and manuals and are bidding on a back up of their original purchase on CD-Rom.  We have met and exceeded Ebay's "Compilation & Informational Media Guidelines" This item is not in violation of any of Ebay's policies or procedures. This auction has been placed in the proper category.  We are the sole designers and owners of this back-up           CD-Rom.

What a joke. Note the poor feedback and the fact that the seller is no longer a registered user.

Exactly how delusional does one have to be to say: "Hey, I think I'll take a bunch of stuff STILL currently in print and protected by laws which I obviously don't understand, then put it all on a CD and sell it to other idiots. Yeah! That's a great idea!"

The people who do this are morons. Every single one of the them.

This is up for grabs again. I tried a different tactic this time and reported the auction directly to eBay. Let's see how they respond ...

What's up, Ralf?

This looks like an original product, a legal software sale.  What am I missing?

Check the not-so-fine-print at the bottom:

"Item comes in a DVD style case with some artwork and in the CD-R format. If you are unsure what this means"

Definitely not original, or legal!

Well four days later and it is still there and has sold 3 copies with 7 copies left....
So much for E-Bays strict rules.

Most humorous in the feedback is the negative feedback from buyers. One guy says, "sells products of others."  I think when you deal with people like this, you get what you have coming.

Note he is no longer registered.

I do believe eBay has strict rules.  However, I also believe that they are understaffed.

In every email I have sent to eBay it has taken them a consistent 4 -5 days to respond and when they do respond it is written as if it was a stock email which doesn't address the original issue *please send email #5 to that improv guy*   .

Take the following email I sent as an example

--------------------------------------------------

Ebay

This is now the fourth email I have had to write to eBay in regard to this matter.

As far as I am concerned you already have both the original email and the headers in the emails I have sent you.  If you can't act on these so be it.  I certainly do not wish to waste anymore of my time on an organisation which appears to be uninterested in supporting its members!  Apart from the fact that it takes eBay between 4 to 5 days to respond to each email.  This is certainly poor service!

Regards

---------------------------------------------------------------

The response was

----------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I appreciate the chance to help you with your
questions.

Please be assured, if a violation of eBay policy has occurred, we will
take the appropriate action in accordance with our site policies. Such
action may include issuing a warning, temporary suspension, indefinite
suspension or terminating the membership.

Due to eBay's Privacy policy we are unable to provide information
regarding the details of another user's account. We are equally
concerned about violations on the site, and will thoroughly investigate
each report we receive. However, the details of our actions cannot be
disclosed with third party members. Please remember that this is for the protection of all eBay users.

Thank you for being part of the eBay community.

I ask what is the point in wasting time on emails that get responded to by an automatic system?  8O

What I find funny is the sentence above that one.

Anyone found to be distributing my CD-ROM will be reported to e-bay.

Think about it.
