I did as well. Ebay makes it easy now.

I've reported these listings. This eBayer is selling photocopies (or .pdf printouts) of the Segment Jorune articles and Essays from White Wolf magazines 8 - 16. Not that anyone would bite at these starting bids, anyway. In case anyone is interested in the information contained in them, these are available from Joe Adam's Jorune.org site in .pdf, presumably with the blessings of the copyright holders.

This guy is a regular on this thread and has made a business of selling them.  Look at his feedback, he is up to almost 200 sales of illegal pdf'd collections.

Would the disappearance of Howard Thompson mean that Metagaming properties are now "orphan works"?

No, but if there is no one to defend a copyright then it can be exploited by the unscrupulous.

I have to wonder, with sites like this one (and there are many) what's the point in going after individual eBay sellers anymore?

ψLoad.com - Find Rapidshare and Megaupload files

I did a little poking around there to see what was available, and downloaded a PDF of a work that I already own a copy of in hardcover.  I wanted to see if it was legit; that the file was actually present and what it claimed to be.  It was.

Worse, it cost nothing to download at all, except about 60 seconds of my precious time.

The "beasts of lejend" search wouldn't be yours, would it?   :D

[Edit:  LOL.  "dark chateau" "deimos soul" "dragon archive" "isle ape" "keep borderlands"]

[Edit II: I'm having fun making graffiti-searches for that front page.]

That was one of 'em, yep.  But I was originally looking for "The Exotic Realms of Hazgar".  It couldn't find that one but did particularly like the keyword "realms" due to a certain D&D fantasy setting that shall remain forgotten.  ("badmike nude" wasn't me, though.)
