Interesting article J.K. Rowling having a court case against illegal ebooks being sold on eBay settled in her favour.

The case seems to be built on the following:
"Rowling's lawyers claim that if eBay profits from sales of illegal goods then it should be held liable."

Sounds like a pretty good argument in any court. Unfortunately it looks like the hearing is not over yet. However, with Rowlings legendary willingness to prosecute copyright infringement this could be an opportunity to test the immovable object (eBay) being smashed by an irresistable force (Rowling).

bloody good luck to her i say - i hope she wins.

what goes around comes around. microsoft have been hedging it for many many years and it finally looks like they are starting to cave-in on all-sorts of fronts atm, so maybe this IS a good time to test ebays grounds and find them not-so-solid after all.

wouldnt THAT make things interesting?

Actually, I'm not happy to see Ebay get into legal trouble.

They should have policed themselves long ago.

Yes - they should have but they didn't. Too busy milking their cash-cow. They have no-one to blame but themselves I'm afraid.

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

On the plus side, both of the listings are now gone...surely due to reports by the Acaeum's self-appointed police.

Wow, that pretty sweet Frank,  a PM would have been nice.  Happy, I took it down.   You know what though, I'd watch my ass if I were you, you shilling piece of shit and yes I know all about it.

<edit> Nevermind, I just left you a present in the "Shady Dealers" thread.

Oh and one last thing there Shilly, from the first page of the book:

All of the Magical Weapons within this document are deemed to be copyrighed by their respective owners.  These blades may be used only for personal use (ie. within your role-playing group) and you may freely distribute copies of thier work only in its entirety, as long as no fee is charged([b]unless the fee is for other material, such as,: diskettes, CD's paper, ink, connect times, etc. and that this fee does not exceed a reasonable amount)

So considering that this thing was printed out by someone other than myself and paid to have been professionally bound <see here>,  I would say that my $.99 auction wouldn't qualify as unreasonable, so its not even technically illegal.

Despite that fact, I should have just thrown it away like I was going to do in the first place, but I figured someone out there might have just wanted it as a curiosity piece I mean because the $0.99 bid that Ian had was really going to become unreasonable.   Whatever dude though,  I am glad that you gave me an excuse to expose your ass for the liar and shiller that you really are.
