Do you think Ebay has an automated system for removing these listings?  Something like as soon as 5 or 10 people complain that they are counterfeit copies then the auction gets pulled.

Its possible I suppose, but if thats the case the tolerance might be a bit higher.  FWIW, this guy is still up:

I just reported that guy now.

I was just thinking that from the time Mark (the FormCritic) reported the auction, about an hour ago, to now it has been taken down.  I would be very surprised if Ebay had staff that processed these reports that quickly so it must be automated.

Maybe we should each make several accounts and use them for shill reporting - what policy does Ebay have against that?

Well, it may very well be worth a shot. I guess the question becomes what do we think the toleranace level of this is and who is going to participate?

I would think that most people reporting these items are from here so it shouldn't be too hard to get a poll of how many people actually reported it.  I wouldn't be surprised if the number was 5 or close to that.  Unless there are a lot of people who read this thread, take action but do not post.

How about whoever finds the next pdf auction posts it here and then asks everyone who reads it to please post that they reported it.  We can check the status of the auction and see when it gets taken down.  We should be able to get a good ballpark figure after 2 or 3 such auctions.

I would hope that ebay's system is smart enough not to count the report from the same reporter twice but again you never know - there are lots lazy programmers out there.

I used to shill pdf auctions regularly, but it got a bit much for me to handle alone. If I had a few comrades, I'd gladly do it. It would be very little work for each individual, and it would be great fun!

I wasn't thinking of actually shilling their auctions, just having multiple accounts where each one would report them and get them canceled quick.

It might not ultimately matter whether the auctions are removed by eBay or not. The seller's goal might just be to put his contact info "out there" so that those who are looking for PDFs know where to get them.

I'd rather shill them. More fun, and costs them money.
