OK, I've had several people contact me wanting a better photo of the Holloway Oriental Adventures painting. This link should do the trick. Just click on the photo to see a slightly larger version.

http://www.munchkinpress.com/Hibbscollection.htm

The first person who can find where this is published(if it was) will win an original piece of Monstrous Compendium artwork by Tom Baxa. If you do find it please post here for the record.

I may come up w/ a few more pieces that need identified.

Thanks,
Devon

Pen&Paper is a great site but don't ever consider their lists complete. We are always finding stuff they are missing.

I dug out the 2 prelim drawings for the Holloway piece. One mentions "Kubo the assistant".

another big bumpage! I was going back through some old posts and came across this. Did anyone ever figure out where the Holloway painting was used in/intended for?

Was it this one?
The Illustration Exchange - The Collection of Devon and Shawn Hibbs/Jim Holloway - ORIENTAL ADVENTURES

do you still have the photos of the prelims too?

Still a question mark? I think that the Jim Holloway painting was an unused alternative to this one that appeared in Dragon Magazine 151 for the articles/section "Into the Eastern Realms" which has the similar setting & characters. See if there's a date on that painting. also maybe someone can confirm this with Jim when showing the Dragon issue to him.

We have very little artwork in our collection. Most was sold over the last 4 years.

Available now from Die Cast Games: Night of the Black Swords by Allen Hammack (Author of C2-The Ghost Tower of Inverness) with artwork by Jeff Easley and Diesel.

did you originally get the painting and the drawings directly from Jim?

Are the photos still around of the drawings?

I bought the painting off Ebay, it wasn't from Jim. I don't think I have the photos anymore.

I was just thinking back on it and wondered why Jim wouldn't have recalled the reason for the second sort of iteration on it, so that makes sense.
