I definitely prefer medieval-style settings, and as much realism as I can get. I typically run low magic campaigns, which keeps them much more interesting. I quickly grew bored of DMs whose players had magic dripping off them.
Most of the towns in my campaigns don't even have a mage. Wizards are rare.

Yes but what printings of each and who was the manufacturer of the dice. You also need to take into account the condition of the books. Are the dice still bagged?

It is all you need (I started with a basic box set) so at least you can take it to higher levels with what you have.

This sounds pretty cool, I've always liked this kind of play style too. But, at high level in Mystara it is almost impossible to avoid. Glantri campaign anyone...

I really didnt care whether the maps were 2- or 3-d but I gotta tell you, for me the maps for the original Ravenloft were the coolest ever.  A lot of people (including my DM) hated trying to figure out the 3-D maps for that module.  It was a bitch to map out for the players but it was still cool.

One of my all-time favorite modules was The Forest Oracle.  Low-level, several intermediate challenges, decent treasure, puzzles, great setting.  Pretty much had all the requisites for a good adventure.  And it had Druids!  :D

i thought the 3D map in the original ravenloft was really easy to map - i've DM'd it a few times and never had a prob....

to each their own tho and i can see how its confusing to others.

I run my own game system, Sen. No levels or classes. Makes it much easier, and far more realistic.

True, we play normal basic D&D rules. The nice thing is that we played 11 years in the same world, so we really got to know it. I wouldn't prefer to switch worlds.

I played the original Ravenloft adventure aswell (in the mystara setting), the map was cool, but harder to read than any normal map.
Nice module by the way.
Best moment for us was when the fighter in our group pulled a rope... A bell rang, a banshee came through the doorway, SCREEAM, the fighter died ;)
Everybody kept telling him that it was a stupid thing to do...

3-D map for Ravenloft was no biggie, and is a cool map (I love maps)

The Forest Oracle - now there was a good adventure, I think I linked it up with the two L series modules when I ran it.

Back to Ravenloft, since WoTC now has the rights, they are releasing a new book: Expedition to Castle Ravenloft (suppose to be released in October of this year)

There's a topic:  Are the plastic sealed freezer bags I'm using gonna save my collection long term?

What is the advantage of boxes on the floor (with the potential for water and other incidents) as opposed to a shelf?

What else should I be doing?

Not that this thread has been on topic for some time (and being a Maxwell clone, that's to be expected...)

Anyone care to try tuning this to "How big is your rare collection?". *g*
As in http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/rares.html ; either on completeness - 1 tick per line (no bonuses for having 3 3rd PotVQs and 2 4ths(!)) - or quantity (total number of rares)?

What's that, then? 101 lines to tick off, anyhow.

=
Yeah, it's just as silly as the original question, I know... :D
[more interesting subquestion might be what is /missing/ from that list, d'you think?]
