major_axe has two sets IIRC.

Hmmmm, starting to sound like they're not that rare. :?

We were looking at some of our Mail Order Hobby Shop Catalogs and up to 1991 you could still purchase RPGA 2,3 and 4 for $5 each.   8O

Thanks :)
Is that the public (non-RPGA) catalog and/or did you need to be an RPGA member to purchase those as-of 1991?

When were the remainders (stated to have been) pulped, then?

2 x R1-4 complete sets
1 x RPGA 1-4 complete set

Plus Polys #16 RPGA 5 (3),17 RPGA 6 (3),18 RPGA 7 (2)& 19 RPGA 8 (2) : (some with mail covers)

(..and finally relocated my Bohemian Ear Spoon #27 with all the catalogues that came with it from the UK that I thought I'd thrown out years ago - just to go completely OT  )

They were listed in the RPGA section but it doesn't state that you had to be a member to purchase them. You could buy many different items including:

-Slipcases
-Blank Puzzles
-LC1,2,3
-Totebags
-T-shirts
-etc..

We don't know if or when they were ever pulped.

In 1988 all the R and RPGA series were available.

Interesting.  IIRC, I could have swore Frank posted here not so long ago that after the POG came in, she ordered most if nit all of the pupled.  Maybe he can also shed some light on this.

(I put that in brackets again for good reason, Brian)

1898 = pre-pubs, no?

Thanks again, Burnie Bros. :)

LW took over in 1985-1986ish, no?  From what I remember from Frank's post she did so almost immediately there after taking over. I am sure he can clarify the details.

Well here is one of Frank's posts:

ExTSR wrote:We printed 2500 of each, iirc. (I may have guessed at 5k before, but I think I was being optimistic.)

About 250-500 of each were sold. (R2 was the least popular.)

The PoG destroyed the rest.

Note: R4 was never shrinkwrapped; R 1-3 were.

No date referenced, so I guess I was just assuming the date. :?

The pulping occurred sometime after I left. This was reportedly during a routine housecleaning of the warehouse and writeoff of old inventory stocks.

Harold was around then, he may recall the year.

I also noticed as far back 1983 you could buy the R or RPGA series from the Dungeon Hobby Shop. They even had two prices, one for RPGA members and another for non-memebers. So they seem to have always been available to the public.

Good! That will finally break the RPGA-only myth, then, I trust?
(Far more than just available to 'all-and-sundry' via Imagine in the UK).

Excellent follow-up :)

No, I use 4th(-) print OD&D sets for that purpose! *jk*

Would be an easy bet that those (complete in box) are scarcer than the '4'-rated R1 ;)

David, I think you forgot to mention the fact that the ones that you are using for coasters, are just left over ones from the rather large white box castle that you built from them.

*mutters*. Silly me! :P

Seriously though, if y'all could come up with much more than a dozen 4th(-)s in boxes (pref. original ones!) between y'all, I'd be surprised ;)

Hey! Has the R/RPGA "flood" stopped?

Very much in the original box.

But then you've already seen that one, haven't you?
