Definitely the carpet...... We may have to check print runs on it but that may be a T1 like the one used for the background of Paul's infamous "forearm" shots . The picture is blurry but if the stains match as described by Paul in his the buyer may have got a deal of a lifetime :)  I mean really, isn't it the rug that put the PHB over the $500 mark

What's wrong about that price??? :D

The only reason that keeps me from bidding right here right now is that the seller doesn't ship overseas!!

Mmmh, let's see what's in there.

Bsolo Ghost of Lion Castle - very easy to find

B5 Horror on the Hill - maybe a bit more difficult, but not hat interesting

B6 The Veiled Society - rather common and cheap

CM1 Test of the Warlords - very common

CM2 Death's Ride - same

CM4 Earth Shaker - same

CM5 Mystery of the Show Pear's Solo - a bit uncommon, I'd say, but here it should depend on whether the magic viewer in in there; if it is, then this one is a bit interesting

H2 The Mines of Bloodstone - quite high-prices, let's be generous and consider 80 bucks for this one

I6 Advanced D & D Ravenloft - fairly common

M2 Vengeance of Alphaks - hundreds of this

X1 The Isle of Dread - red copy, so a slight interest for this

X4 Master of the Desert Nomads - hundreds

X7 The War Rafts of Kron - this is moderately easy to find, but it may attract some interest

X9 The Savage Coast - this one is fairly uncommon

X10 A Battlesystem Game / War machine Red Arrow, Black Shield - definitely not rare (I see many of these), but always fetches high prices

AC9 Creature Catalogue - slightly uncommon

Official Advanced D & D players handbook - I think this copy is very common, but maybe an expert can tell better

Basic Rules, Expert Rules, Companion Rules, Master Rules, Immortal Rules - the last two might fetch a bit of interest

Original basic rules box set with module The Keep of the Borderlands - oh well, everywhere.

All in all, it's likely that the individual purchase of all these modules exceeds far more than 300 dollars, especially with shipping costs. I don't think I'd have thrown more than 120 dollars in a lot like this (if ever I had been interested!), but maybe the bidders are considering the price for purchasing all items separately.

Or maybe they've just got some money to throw away.

Well, looking at the bidding list, after all, it seems that three people (among which 2 newbies) are fighting for the lot at all costs, so maybe they did not make all those considerations on individual purchases.

Anyway, our friend there placed a reasonable $120 before quitting.

That and two bidders have been going back and forth from $212 to $317.
Check out Goliath2121's feedback and he(she) is on a roll buying modules...

In doing some math I came up with an estimate of maybe $185 if you bought all individually with prices that seem somewhat common. I did not figure in the miniatures so they could add some. Factor in the cost of shipping if you bought an item at a time and maybe the $200 price is not too crazy. I can n ot speak to $317 though. Not knowing the miniatures. I guess it comes down to wether or not you need all of the items and also the ease of getting all the items at one time instead of dealing with  a whole lot of different sellers. If you go non-insane high side on the prices things can sell for the $300 is not off the mark though either.

Ok, here's the secret:

The Test of the Warlods module is a genuine, CONFIRMED, 1st Alpha/Omega +/-/% printing. It's worth at LEAST $3.

As for the minis, it looks like the TSR Magic-Users and Illusionists box with the contents on top, plus a few more random minis that are not Grenadier gold box... perhaps early Partha.  In other words, there's nothing in the minis justifying a big bid... by themselves the minis might fetch $10.
