This has probably been done already in some form or other, but what do you think is the single rarest of the rares (the ones with a score of 5)?

Heh. 1st Chainmail shouldn't be!

Do you mean in terms of frequency of sales on eBay, or actual (guessed) rarity, Stephen?

Sorry, I'm referring to actual rarity, i.e., numbers in existence.

No variants allowed?
e.g. T1st Greyhawk staff copies (w/o price changes and possibly pre-print run given different size of book)?

Hmmm... *thinks*

OK, I'm going to dodge this one, sorry! :)

Doesn't help that there's a never officially released item in that list (Jade Hare cover), yet other officially released items such as the TSR-UK Hobby Newsletter are not listed (and in that case the current number of copies known to have survived is zero).

How many 1st print Dwarven Glorys are out there?  I know of only 1 and haven't seen an auction for one . . . ever.

I know of 2 1st print DG's. It is unquestionably a candidate. Out of all the rares it is the one I have seen the least number of times.

Not really a candidate, but can anyone remember when a Lost Tomoachan last came up. Compared to Lost Caverns and Inverness, it is much more scarce.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

The last one I saw up for sale was last winter.  Sellers name was Byron(sp?) or something like that.  It didnt sell, although it did have an openeing bid of $2000.00. 8O

I've had 1 more Inverness than Tamo. They're pretty much the same, but by far not the rarest items.

Any more entries?  Once we've got a sizeable list, I'm going to post the entries in a poll so we can put numbers on how many of us has a copy (or copies) of each of them.  That should give us some sense of which are the most and least commonly owned of the rares.

DG1st There are at least 4 or 5 floating around amongst collectors that I am aware of. Even more so since mine is incomplete. The additional booklet (which I am missing) has never even been seen up for auction it would easily return on search list.

Domesday is wildly rare.

Jade Hare w/cardstock cover is very rarely seen.

Fazzlewood belongs here even though there is another one up from Corbin, KY.

Although they are not ver interesting I would also throw in Stategic Preview. I can only remeber only seeing 3 up for sale on EBay in almost 6 years time, 2 of which I won. :)  I do know of a couple of other folks here that own some, but other than that thats it.

I would also say the R1-3 prepubs would be good candidates as well as the R7-10 tournament modules. 10th Anniversary Collectors sets dont come up that often either.

BTW, why are we not including 1st print Chainmails?  I have yet to ever see one sold publically and know of only one that has changed hands privately?
