Okay, I've always wanted to try a poll, and this seems like a decent enough excuse ...

The November 2004 issue of Dungeon ran an article entitled "The 30 Greatest D&D Adventures of All Time." The list is below; my question to you: at this exact moment in time, how many of these do you own? Feel free to add comments, too.

The list (leaving out some "the's" and "of's" to speed up typing time):

30. Ghost Tower of Inverness

29. Assassin's Knot

28. Lost City

27. Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh

26. City of Skulls

25. Dragons of Despair

24. City of the Spider Queen (3e)

23. Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun

22. Lost Caverns of Tsoj.

21. Dark Tower (JG)

20. Scourge of the Slave Lords

19. Against the Cult / Reptile God

18. Hidden Shrine of Tam.

17. Ruins of Undermountain

16. Isle of Dread

15. Castle Amber

14. Dead Gods

13. Dwellers / Forbidden City

12. Forge of Fury (3e)

11. Gates of Firestorm Peak

10. Return to the Tomb of Horrors

9. White Plume Mountain

8. Return / ToEE (3e)

7. Keep on the Borderlands

6. Desert of Desolation

5. Expedition / Barrier Peaks

4. Temple of EE

3. Tomb of Horrors

2. Ravenloft

1. Queen of the Spiders

+++++

[side note: Erik, if you're reading this, this is exactly the sort of article that would get me to subscribe; if I could count on six such entertaining articles every year, I'd sign up right now. As it is, I've no use at all for the current "here's another three D&D 3.528b4 adventures" format.]

22 if I counted right.

I don't have any of the 3e or 2e(??) stuff on the list. Don't want it either.

I do have real problem with that list. I don't think compilation adventures should count. Forget the fact that several of those listed can't possibly ranked correctly.

Then we have X2? ToEE? WG4? No freaking way they are even in my top 30. And how in the hell does I6 make #2. It was/is cool, but no way it is second best all time.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I6 was not only cool, it started a very popular game setting, it definatly belongs very high on the list.

What, no Isle of Ape?  :D

(I always wonder if "Isle of Ape" is a pun on "I Love Ape")

Counting strictly I have 16 of those.

18 if I count Queen of the Spiders and Scourge of Slavelords - I don't have the supermods but each of the individual ones.

I won't count Desert of Desolation b/c I have been too lazy to pick up Pharaoh or T1-4 because I only have T1

All but 5.

I've not read the article, but it seems a bit biased. Only one adventure not published by TSR/WoTC? How biased is that? Are they saying that TSR/WoTC produce stuff of such a high quality that they stand above all other authors?

It seems to me that they are just sucking up to Daddy.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I have all of these...I guess the list is pretty much subjective, obviously there are a few of my choices not on here, and some of those on here don't deserve to be on any such list much this this one.  I mean, no rip on 3e, but has it even been around long enough to spawn not one but THREE entries on this list?  Ridiculous.  Forge of Fury, City of the Spider Queen and RTOEE need to be gone.  Give them 10 years and if people are still talking about them, then leave them there.  I would replace them with B1 In Search of the Unknown, L1 Secret of Bone Hill and either B10 or WG5,  or maybe even something else.

i have 24 of them.

imo tegel manor is better than dark tower but there we go.

i dont like queen of the spiders - the booklet is shite - the booklets individually are much better and easier to use.

there are certainly some items that should not be there imo.

Are we nearly there yet?

I suppose the magazine needs to suck up to their average reader, and be representative of their experience. That would explain all the shite.

I have 8 (if you count A1-4 as Scourge) but I used to have 12 of them.

The party awakens in a place where there is no light and no sounds but their own. Characters with infravision can ascertain that all party members are presented. The place they are in looks and feels like a natural cave, about 30 feet in diameter.

I have 29 of them. Missing #24. I have been meaning to pick it up but there always seems to be a reason I decide against it.

Currently, four.  I'm not collecting modules at the moment.

Previously, 23.  (No 2E/3E except City of Skulls.).

18 or 19, I think. Or are we only meant to count those that can be found? ;)
