Hope everyone has a safe and happy Turkey Day.  And I am not going to say GO COWBOYS because well...what's the point?  If they beat the Broncos today then maybe I will be a believer again.  :)

Hey Brian, if USC loses to UCLA and Penn State somehow jumps them for BSC spot #2 and the Longhorns somehow manage to not screw up between now and then....(deep breath)...I will drive up to PA for the Rose Bowl.  You buy the beer.  :D

Sounds like a plan.

You can count me in, boys.  I'll tell you this:  the local paper has Penn State in the Rose Bowl.  We need a hell of a lot to happen between now and then, but we're hanging on.

And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, our non-American friends included.  Please have mercy on the turkey-impaired and football entranced among us while you scan ebay for great deals today.

No, it could happen:

1. UCLA, a 38-point loser to Arizona, somehow beats Southern Cal.

2. Texas inexplicably plays the entire game with 10 men and loses to A&M.

3. LSU drops football, citing "academic concerns."

All of which is secondary, anyway, because the real concern here is exactly how the Eastern Establishment will go about keeping Oregon (10-1, only loss to Southern Cal) out of the BCS. Not that we're paranoid.

Now, we need something to keep this thread somewhat D&D-related ... let's see: footie + Thanksgiving + D&D ...

Ha! An unwary delver has failed his saving throw and fallen for my clever trap (take 10 damage, Frank ...)

That image is most assuredly not from Blood Bowl. Anyone else finished with their turkey and wanting to take a guess? (it's not a total trick question, BTW; it's from a TSR product).

If memory serves me right, that's from Dragon #64 with the fantasy football game.

Take an extra helping of mashed potatoes for getting it 95 percent right! :)

Now, put some back for missing the issue number (65, not 64).

+++++

The article was called "Monsters of the Midway," for those interested. I'm not sure if it was an attempt to get in on the Blood Bowl phenomenon or not, but I never saw it played or heard it mentioned once this issue left the shelves.

Actually PSU is #3 in the BCS rankings, which are the ones that really count. A loss by either a USC or Texas and it will be very interesting to see what happens. Too bad they got proked at Michigan or else this would be an even more interesting situation.

Ah, yes, "Monsters of the Midway."  It looked kind of fun back in the day.  Weren't the halflings good kickers or something?  Did Dragon 64 have Flight of the Boodles then?

Flight of the Boodles = Dragon #60. The featured attraction in #64 was Tom Wham's Planet Busters game.

Interesting note: one of these games is still in print today. Hint: it ain't the first one.
