I have just received the latest installment of phished email from fake ebay addresses - it accuses you of not sending an item you sold (and mentions contacting the authorities to try and scare people into replying)

DO NOT reply to this. If you're uncertain of anything, log into ebay proper and check your messages. If the message isn't there - it's fake.

Since many here do business on ebay I thought youd want to know
