I see your really crazy price for Dune and raise you an even crazier Dune price:

I say give it two or three years (if that) and I am not sure that will be all that crazy. Has it not seen $250+ on eBay already? Now I might also suggest that pricing it that high will help drive the normal price that high. A self fufilling prophecy.

I know that they snag pretty high prices on EBay, but I didn't thing that they had hit the $250 plateau yet.  The last one I saw (Disclaimer: I am not in the habit of looking for them myself, I just notice the ones posted in the interesting items thread here   ) IIRC went for ~$150 or so, I think.  I will say though about the whole self-fullfilling prophecy thing does seems to becoming more and more common place though. :?

As if saying it once was not enough    Looks like there may be issues with multiple posts again. Or maybe you wanted to make a point

And I could be wrong on that price. I know it has seen the $200 mark and it may have been untriggered BINs that were at $250. It is an item I look at and think "I waited too long to buy".

Any ideas? I really am not that concerned about losing I just want to know why this might have happened.

eBay.com Item Bid History

Odd that it would show you as high bidder at $9.99 whe the 1st bid was $7.00 (some glitch maybe?), it should have said something like $7.25, then when the last bid came in would read $10.00 (course a deal was probably struck and they just needed to make themselves high bidder so the seller could end it)

More info:

Thank you for writing eBay in regards to being outbid on item

** expired eBay auction **
.

I've checked our systems and see that when you placed your bid for the
item, your current high bid was $7.50, though you did have a higher
maximum (I'd guess $9.99, from what you're saying). The bidder
susanne636 then came in with a bid of their own. The high bid at the
time (yours) was $7.50, meaning the minimum bid they could have made was
$8.00. Instead, they bid $10.00. Since it was then a competition of
maximums (as you were both within one increment of each other), the
highest bid won. That just happened to be susanne636, as their maximum
was higher than yours. If, for example, you had placed a maximum of
$10.01, you would have won by one cent.

Yeah
They bid $7, you bid $9.99 bumping the auction to $7.50 and you in the lead. They would have to at least bid $8 (but instead bid $10) which puts them in the lead by .01 - what is it you don't get - the fact you said about the auction registering your high bid instead of $7.5 ? (That I couldn't explain other then a fluk.)

Oh yeh I'm a big fan of the BLOCK WIPE statements.  But cmon, did you miss the latest Cougie tidbit?  Besides selling $100k worth of D&D  ayear, our favorite kitty has this incredible stat to add:

Never responds to pre-sale postage enquiries. Rip off P+P on win
 Buyer   wendyisnice ( 2 )    Jun-24-06 10:31  8811656774
Reply by cougarrinard: I ANSWER 500+ EMAILS ADAY, YOU WON 7 BOXES, £8 P&P £1 INS. AVOID BLOCK REGRET   Jun-24-06 10:37
Follow-up by wendyisnice: You never reponded to our (MULTIPLE) questions-We paid £9, was £3.49 parcel.   Jun-24-06 10:50

He answers 500 EMAILS A DAY?  What, did he post a picture of Brad Pitt at EHarmony.com and is inudated with women seeking dates?  The former Titanium seller certainly must be commended trying to run a business and answer those 500 emails:

Let's say he works a 10 hour day (yeh I know Im being kind)
He spends every minute of that time at the computer except for a 10 minute break an hour (to take a dump, eat Cougie snacks, check out porn, whatever)
He answers 50 emails an hour
So he answers 1 email a minute? WOW!  I feel like such a slacker.  Multiply that by a week and Cougie answers a whopping 3,500 EMAILS A WEEK!!!!!!!
Well, no wonder he never posts here to defend himself, obviously the man is MUCH too busy!
(Hint to the Coug: Just DELETE the spam adverts, porn offers, pleas from Nigeria for deposting of sums in your bank, get rich quick schemes, and viagra offers and that might cut your daily dose down a few hundred.  Don't take time to answer these and you would cut down your work load considerably)

Guess its just me being dense and it was late at night perhaps. I never place x.99 bids which sort of struck me as strange and I also am darn sure I remember being the high bidder at $9.99  with my $10 bit but enough on this. Thanks for listening....or reading as it were.

Oh, it's not just you. :)

Our favorite furious feline is one convenient package of everything that can be bad about eBay sellers: he's rude, vindictive, greedy, overbearing, patronizing, and not above having an M-bag "mysteriously" disappear.

But, my God, he IS entertaining! Let's give him credit for that, at least. :)

What is the UK English pronuciation of the word scone?  Is the letter o long as in bone or short as in dot?

Does it vary by region (Scotland, Wales, etc.)?

That sounds suspiciously like a political question...

Personally, I'm sick of all the food talk around here. It's just food, food, food all the time — I don't care about DL39's cheeseburger fetish or Shipley's "wonderful pasta salad" that he's always mentioning.

Isn't this supposed to be a D&D collecting forum?

I have very good scones, tho they're suspiciously liberal. (Most have fruit in them.)
