Xaxaxe wrote:Well, it's official: I've got World Cup fever. I just downloaded the "Ole!" song (I'm skipping the accent marks) from the iTunes Music Store, then went down to a local sportsbook and got some action on tomorrow's games."Ole! Ole-Ole-Ole! Ole! Ole!" (repeat)+++++Sidebar: I'm thinking it's Brazil's tournament to win or lose. I suspect many of our UK users think I'm wrong, though ... and Rooney is back!

The most-often heard lines at our table were: "Okay, you guys are about here, and you're travelling in this direction ... no, wait ... that's not right. Hang on a second ... okay, you're here ... no, wait. Um ... okay, I messed up. We have to play the last three encounters all over again. My bad."

I have only heard the "Ole . . ." when eating at local Mexican restaurants and when listening to one of Fish's live albums.I read somewhere that every country has a distinct rendition of "Ole . . ." Does every country really sing it in a different way, with different intonations or accents or whatever? Could I, as an American, detect any differences between the Scottish, English, or Welsh versions?
