If you (or anyone else) is likely to be up in London and at a loose end - do drop us a message and I can showcase a pub or two.  :)

I am now actually thinking of trying to change my honeymoon plans.  Instead of a week at DisneyWorld in Orlando, my fiance and I could take a tour of old English and Scottish pubs.  I wonder what she will say? :D

oh, do it.  much more romantic.

Pub I always wanted to go to is the old Red Lion - which is actually right in the middle of Avebury Stone Circle - and because it has bedrooms, you just have to stagger upstairs!

Hey, it's YOUR honeymoon. If she doesn't like it, she can stay behind.

Truthfully, I am really lucky.  She loves action movies and hates chick flicks.  She lets me basically do what I want as long as I dont do anything totally stupid.  She likes the fact that I have hobbies and doesnt mind that I spend money on stuff I will probably never use.  I think the only thing we really disagree completely on is that she doesnt like either of the movies Tron or Office Space (which are two of my favorites).

And she thinks castles are really cool so that may work to my advantage.  :D

So you think that even after six years of dating; over 4 of those co-habitating that as soon as we get married that her attitude and behavior will change?  I have heard of this phenomenon but I'm just not sure if it is as widespread as everyone says.

I guess I'll find out one way or another.

I wanted to go to Egypt or Greece. But my wife also had the WDW idea and that was that. I wasn't so sure...I had not been since 1976 as a kid. (Married in 1993). It was great. I could not believe how massive WDW had become. We went in Summer and the parks were open until Midnight and back then the crowds were lighter than today. We were there a for eight days and didn't see half the stuff.
By the way, since we wanted to the ability to visit the parks as we wanted and we were there for 8 days, we bought annual passes - it was way cheaper than buying any sort of ticket plan. We go back every year, now. It never gets old. Of course now there are three kids in tow, but it is all good.

The big difference is this: The minute you get married, the playing field changes. You can't just kick her out if you get too annoyed, bored, etc. Women know this. They INVENTED marriage.
Think of your wedding ring as an Iron Band of Bilarro.

Way back in 1989 I was travelling round the US with a friend and we visited some people I knew in LA and they took us to Disneyland.  Fabulous!  The next night we went to see girls wrestle in hot shaving foam at a bar.  Also fabulous!

(although probably not suitable honeymoon venue)

:)

The last time I went to Disneyworld was in '89.  The last time she went was '87 so I am sure we will have a really good time (our first date was at Six Flags...13 hours long  8O ).  I also want to take at least one day for Univesral Studios since they have license from Marvel Comics for a lot of their rides and such.

But I am seriously looking at planning a trip to England perhaps as early as next year.  Always wanted to know where my ancestors came from anyway.  I figure I can get in some good beer drinking at the same time.

I prefer a nice Tolkien reference instead.   "One ring to rule them all..." And then something about darkness and binding.  Depressing... :P

We went to Universal (florida) once. I was completely disappointed. Lines are horribly managed and nothing was that great. I have not been to the new Islands of Adventure, yet. But the last few people who I have talked to that went to Universal on their Disney trip were none too happy.

Disney is Disney - you are a king. Universal is a glorified Cedar Point (six flags, whatever).

Were driving down to Disney in April ( which means stopping at all the obscure used bookstores I can :) ). I haven't taken the kids there for a few years but last time we did I remeber they had like speed pass that seemed to work well for us.

I was in San Francisco last March. I wanted to go to Disneyland Resort (I've been there twice, in 1992 and 1993), but it was way too far and I had few days available to go there, so I gave up. I somewhat amended when I went to Paris in August (quite easier, and it's only a two-hour flight) and stayed for a day at Disneyland Paris.

Since I will likely go to USA for a period of about six months, maybe I can manage to see Disneyworld, too. Plus I've never been in Florida and I'd like to visit there. Oh well, I've actually known the Miami airport, but that does not count (and it was a very bad experience).

I remember when I was groomsman to one of our gaming group, I did the sensible thing & arranged an alternative solso honeymoon (change of identity, one way flight booked & new job set up in London). Fool of a took passed up this sage advice & got hooked.

Now if red_bus had fulfilled his best man duties for me & organised the same for me .....

best place for a honeymoon ... Donegal (cold & wet, great surf, class warm pubs, great beer, turf fires) Smugglers Creek Rossnowlagh, or Bushmills Inn,  Co Antrim (a spit & a stone's throw from the Causeway)

Either way fantastic

Don't worry buddy.  I dated for about five years and then have been married for almost seven to the same woman. If anything, she ignores me even MORE than when we were just going out.  It's great!  And after a few years they lose ALL interest in sex, which is even better, as it gives you so much more time for playing games on the computer, internet porn, collecting D&D, playing RPGs, drinking with buddies, watching football, etc.  As long as I take her out for a nice dinner once a week (as she briefly remembers who I am) everything is fine. And in your case (as mine) the little lady already knows all the sad details of your addictions, if she's anything like mine she'll leave you alone to wallow even more into your goodies while she does her own thing.  Better yet, we bought a house, my wife has spent the last two years fixing it up, decorating, buying furniture, etc.  Hasn't noticed a bit the growing piles in the attic, storage shed, garage, office...
Now, if you are planning to have kids, that's an entirely different basket of crawfish....look how many Acaeum members are selling their collections once they get the word they are about to be daddies. And do you think that is their idea?  Right....!   They are guilted into it.
My advice is to keep your cats and forget any kids.

I'd rather keep the kid and get rid of the cat.
Yeah, I think a lot of women guilt hubby into selling when a baby is on the way. "We could use the money", etc. etc. Realistically, having a kid is not all that expensive, if you do it right. Food is free for at least 6-8 months or so. Diapers can get expensive, but using washable cloth ones cuts that cost out. Other than that, they just sit there and leak fluids for a year or so. And the clincher is, when you have one, everyone GIVES you tons of baby stuff.

He is absolutely correct! I might add the Iron band gets heavier and tighter every day.
