I think the benefit of an auction price and BIN so close together is that it gets listed in multiple searches.

Some are even the same price.

................And so.............

Building on an idea that NetRodent posted on the RJK strand:

If you assembled all the runic copies of Cairn of the Skeleton King, and together they opened a portal to a janitor's closet at TSR......

Say you could control the year, but you could only use the portal for one visit and one return trip.......

  What...would...you....DO?

Go back to the day the building opened and take the 30 years of TSR book or whatever best laid out the events as they unfolded and leave it there with a letter explain the parts left out. They could then keep the company the way it started...create Magic The Gathering and perhaps buy Hasbro or whoever owns them now in the current timeline.....and buy stocks I know will skyrocket as well

nah you would go back and advise that X1 was the biggest bag of spanners this side of the galaxy and destroy everything in sight.

25 years later...... there are only about 72 copies remaining....

hey it could have happened!

can you imagine it... 85 bids, current bid $1872.01, highest bidder a2jeff

:D

I suppose I could post this to the GenCon thread, but I enjoy bumping this thread, too:

Anyway, GenCon SoCal is moving to downtown L.A., and all GenCon events are apparently trying to lure the video-game industry. Something to do with the demise of E3 ... not sure I understand it all.

Poorly executed press release here

Read the letter from Peter Atkinson at the end of the press release.  It is much more informative.

It's a mistake on their part.  All it will do is alienate longtime fans while doing nothing to gather any new ones.  I mean, there is crossover between the electronic and tabletop games, but I wonder if it's enough to support the kind of endeavor that are attempting. Then again, I'm just an old fogie who doesn't like the tabletop and electronic games of their life to mix in any way.

I don't like the mixing of styles either...but it's inevitable, and it might be a help.

Press release

Somehow, my name was on an email list, so I got an email from the director of the upcoming Solomon Kane movie.

He promised not to screw it up.

I sent him a reply on how not to screw up.

From the press release you sent, Axe.....

I find this line puzzling:

<<© 2006. Solomon Kane is a Trademark of Solomon Kane, Inc. All Rights Reserved. >>

Solomon Kane and the Solomon Kane stories are in the public domain.

Is there some sort of retroactive copyright law that I don't know about?

It doesn't say the stories are copyrighted, it says the name 'Solomon Kane' is a trademark.

Is there a difference between a trademark and a copyright?

For instance....could I trademark the name Sojourner Truth?

Or, could I trademark the title The Hour of the Dragon (which is also in the public domain)

Could I trademark Tom Sawyer?

WotC's Peter Adkison in a bizarre video ... something to do with Stephen Colbert. Has official GenCon links and everything.

I couldn't get through it; maybe you can.

Video that defies my ability to describe it

Cool.  I wanna game with Peter!

Peter, if you lurk these boards......

*waves to Peter*

PM me, dude.  I'm just a ferry ride away, here on the fringes of the world.

C'mon over this Saturday night...we got a game on!

As I have posted elsewhere, that video is embarassing.
