Which G-series do you suppose is harder to come by:

first print with lizard logo or

GW version with a little faerie?

I am pre-supposing that the Australian version with lizard logos are the hardest.

For some reason, I've just developed a strong desire to get all the monochrome modules with the little faerie logo.

Aussie versions are very rare.

Both are uncommon at best, but I'd wager the lizard version is less likely to find.  The Aussie version is just a rumour created by DL36 to make us all drool. ;)

I'd guess at:

1. Oz

2. Lizard

3. GW

4. Wizard

And don't forget Page Not Found

(Sorry, but I don't get the opportunity to be smug that often! )

Hey John, I'll give you $46.00 for them.  The MSRP right on the pack says $36.00, so just think you made your self $10.00.  :P

Lizard is under-rated, but I still think the GWs are probably rarer. Both are much more scarce than Wizard.

Watch out for <chromaticknight> on the Ozzie mods and don't expect to get them for much under $100 in decent condition. :o

Considering that was to get rid of overstock, no-one's ever seen another copy/set afaik?

I would have to agree with John:

  1. Oz

  2. lizard

  3. GW

  4. wizard

Now throw in the print variations for the wizard prints. Being a print run junkie can get expensive.

Also, I would rate the D monos in the same order.

Yah, I still get cursed for the detailed itemization of early module print runs (start thru '82, roughly) that I released to the internet back in '88 or so. It seems to have kicked off a lot of the collectibility issues.

What does "afaik" mean?

Thanks, John

As far as I know.

Mount Celestia doesn't want me and Baator's afraid I'll take over.

For sure. A compromise might be to just collect "cover variations" - print runs where there's at least a minor change in the front cover. Anyway, owning more than one version of a book with the same content will always make me feel uncomfortable. Damn, who started the run for first printings anyway?

Me too. I find it hard to believe that the GW print run would have been larger than the USA 1st. But I still put the Lizard ahead of the GW as my personal observation seems to show otherwise. Admittedly the lizards are difficult to spot without trawling through all the listings whereas its easier to check the lower volumes of all UK listed monos.

That was the feeling here, too.

Even though the GWs were available for a longer period, the print run really shouldn't have been that high (and no evidence of multiple prints thus far).

Wasn't overly hard to pick up the Lizards in nice condition, albeit the price I paid was a premium to the current valuation; as was also the case with a couple of other sets I'd noticed, since.

The trouble with having a "unique" item is that its a worry to sell as there is no precedent set on the price.  There is the price I paid.  But I didn't know exactly what I was buying for the G&D set and the Oz Basic book was a sneaky AU$5 win.  Still, its a nice worry to have. :D

So, if these were to come up for sale, what sort of ball park do you think?
