Heya! Anyone got any OD&D Supplements? ;)

Am attempting to split the OCEs clearly into two sets, in the first instance on the basis of the priced/unpriced stocklist in M&M.

Having finally gotten around to checking these, the unpriced stocklist is present (in a similar, not identical form) in later suppls., too :) (c/w OCE thread; New print(s) of the OCE set?).

I'm trying to figure out roughly when that cut-across might have occurred but unfortunately am missing many later printings (never really focused on those, myself, and gave away a few without thinking). :(

Any assistance with this would be appreciated (unchecked supplement printings, below).

Will amend this list if anyone with multiple prints posts further details/comparisons, please. Thanks in advance, if so. :D

(Might as well start from the beginning, for reference, even though the first removal of the pricing from the stock list I've spotted is down at "V1." (11/79)).

S&S 6th (11/79)

=======

Comparing groupings of supplements present in 4th(-) and 5th print boxes (not just "one-offs") and stock lists;

4th print OD&D = November 1975 (sounds fair enough still) - ~mid 1976 (aside: stock list header retains GH T1st format)

5th print OD&D = ~mid 1976 - still on sale 1977 (currently listed as Dec 1975 - April 1976) (stock list is closest to ELD 1st, also)

[ 3rd print OD&D still on sale late 1975, as might be expected (multi-sided dice set price corrected to $3.00 in at least one copy) ]

From presence of the OCE set in supplement stock lists and price column evidence, above;

OCE with stock list price column = ?late 1977 (cross-check with Dragon and possibly pin down further, from missing supplement printing data above?) - ?mid 1979

OCE without price column = ?mid 1979 - ??? (last few on sale in 1985)

The M&M on the OCE set (which I'm currently selling, so ask your follow-up questions quickly :) ) is somewhere between I. and N. Best guess is "J."

* War of Wizards priced at $9.95, not $7.50.

* No Character Archaic.

* Dungeon Geomorphs Set 3 present

* Battle of Five Armies not present

* Swords & Spells present

* Dragon 8 times/year

[edit]Correction

My GH 7th matches that OCE list exactly, and it's "L.", 11/1977.

[edit again]

S&S 6th = "V1", 11/79.

Quick follow up:

I checked my 7th Chainmail (04/79) and it seems it matches V2, which is odd.

Judging by the dates given, it should be "U."  I'm left to assume it's actually an 8th, and they didn't update the printing or date, which matches the current Acaeum description.

At least now I have a reason to go after more printings :)

5th print OD&D = ~mid 1976 - still on sale 1977 (currently listed as Dec 1975 - April 1976) (stock list is closest to ELD 1st, also)

"5A" M&M conforms to (G.), as does my other 5th.  The beginning of the 5ths is therefore sometime between 02/76 (F.) and 06/76 (H.)  1975 now sounds highly unlikely.

thx, Brian.

I still have to incorporate the data above, plus <jonjhargreaves>. Much appreciate that input.

@all: Just a quick reminder that I'm trying to pinpoint specific dates along that timeline; in particular the change to the unpriced stocklist which will be of use for the early vs. late OCE prints.

From Deimos's Chainmail, I'm guessing the U. supplements (04/79) will be missing those prices, too.

Have been somewhat stimmied in personal research by later print supps. I'm missing currently selling for anything up to $45+. :(

Just a quick note on the annotation; e.g.

N.

"Other Fantasy Releases by TSR"

Monster Manual $9.95; D&D Basic Set $9.95; D&D Collectors Edition $10.00

... Dragon $1.50, 8 times/year; 6 issues $9.00

--- This means that the top of the stocklist is:

Other Fantasy Releases by TSR

Monster Manual $9.95

D&D Basic Set $9.95

D&D Collectors Edition $10.00 (no gap between the header and those first few lines)

... followed towards the end (hence the "...") by mention of the Dragons @ 6 issues at $9.00 which wasn't in "I." (but may be present in "L." or "M." :?

"N." is the first mention of the OCE that I've found (but again, am missing "L." and "M.". The first two items on the list are also different to those on "I.", of course.

What is required are the differences between each stocklist. (This might be a pain if you don't have consecutive dated prints to compare... tried my best to highlight relevant lines w/o scanning the whole thing, but am unable to guess those changes, if any, for printing dates in the "gaps" I don't have).

Hopefully not too many printings of same date have different stocklist contents (e.g. V1/V2) or possibly even different stocklists for the same supplement printing (I haven't found any examples like that yet, thank goodness!).

Erm, any questions...

Thanks to y'all. :)

My OCE matches this one exactly. :) Supps to follow shortly.

ELD 9th Print 11/79 matches V1

BLK 9th Print 11/79 matches V2

GH 10th Print 11/78 matches N

Hope that helps and let me know if you need any further specifications.

Interesting.... a different GH 12th to mine? :?:

Will have to recheck, but right at the end of the run would be a sensible place for such an anomoly (if the final printing was re-run a few more times to fulfil final demand).

Has anyone got the stated-photocopies of the 12/79 prints to see whether these conform (uniformly?) to V2?

=

thx (& to Brian). Will check back through the list, later.

Looks like it's still going to be a pain to fill in those gaps. :(

Thanks again, y'all. Keep 'em coming, please. :)

If you have a supplement printing I don't have (see list now highlighted in green on the first post) and haven't the time to try to "decipher" the changes at present, please just leave a note of the printings here and I'll see whether I can get around to scanning the relevant stocklists against which to compare, for later. Might be quicker/easier that way...

*

(I'd considered doing this for all the above, but there are a few of these prints I've only got nice copies of and I don't have a digital camera).

p.s. I've just spent the whole evening re-building Outlook Express after it starting "dropping" folders. :(

Thankfully I took a backup since things got corrupted on my first attempt to re-build. Very messy!

Seems OK now (albeit "hanging" a bit for some reason :?).

Now in "catch up" mode... :)

Anybody know precisely when they started adding the product code to the lower right corner of the covers?  I've got it down to between 09/77 & 11/77 based on the 6th/7th GH printings.  It's possible it was phased in across the products but my guess is it wasn't.  Any additional info would be appreciated.

These are the first printings that show the product code:

Greyhawk 7th
Blackmoor 4th
Eldritch Wizardry 4th
Gods Demi-Gods & Heroes 3rd
Swords & Spells 3rd

Hope that helps, and is clear  :oops:

Rather than create a new thread, I figured that I'd bump this one. :)  I was just loooking trhough my recently acquired 4th print white box set and I decided to compare it to my other set of 4th print booklets and I notice a couple of differences.  One of which should come as no surprise adn one was kind of surprising.

1) The first difference that I noticed is the covers are different, both in color and in texture.

2) The second one I found rather interesting:  The TSR Hobbies sticker on the last page of my M&M booklet isn't there. Anyone else have a set like this?
