Good win on the PotVQ David. Looking forward to the continued comparative analyses on versions and print sequencing investigation.

Good to get a Misty....finally!!

Don't suppose you'd take a swap for my what-was-stated-to-be-near-mint copy, and a bundle of cash?

Pete provided enough information to convince me on the 1974 date. I only asked the last batch of questions and received a long (and friendly) response a few hours before auction close, since I'd been holding for IO.
The cover sheet "date" was still a source of concern; as was the (presumably absent) copyright sheet date.

I suspect the printing differences between the first few prints might be too small and copies too difficult to pin down that provenance is going to be a key factor.
For example, if this copy is missing the June 1976 copyright sheet- as it should be- if it were to turn up in a GenCon auction it would be "condemned" as incomplete.
*
Beyond that, I'm most definitely sticking with the black folder as the "gold standard" for obvious reasons.
And I can't recall whether Brad (Morno) was stated to have (m)any confirmable early prints... If so, I'm looking very silly.

(Without the provenance and asserted earlier printing, my bid would've been ~$500-550 had I been bidding (not!)).

Just my current thoughts and what I've extracted from Pete's responses, anyhow... I certainly don't have the whole picture.

No probs, Jeff! Will be a good companion volume to his personal Character Archaic. *eyes jealously*

You've saved me from the dilemma of deciding whether to ask Pete if he would sign the Misty, had I won.

Dwarven Glory - check out his other auctions as well - loads of odds and ends including several fanzines.
Interested to know where this lot came from - ebay id doesn't put him down as a gamer but I haven't done any research/asked any questions

Heh, I am pretty happy with this. Granted its clearly not in perfect condition, but I am content just the same. :D Now if Weewarriors will send me a second chance offer on that Misty Isles I got blown away on last night.
