That being said, what is the big deal about ST1.  Don't get me wrong I aspire to own one someday, but being I dont believe it is even in the top 5 in rarity of all the non unique items, why does everyone goe crazy for it? :?  Is it because it was a UK distributed module that was never sold in the US or is it something else? Anyone have any clue?

Please take me out of that "everyone" list, Brian. ;)

I've consistently stated my opinion that it is over-rated... Rare, yes, but not quite that rare. (It used to be listed as a "4" on The Acaeum, too ^^).

Someone once suggested to me that part of its value lies in the fact that it is the rarest "professionally produced" TSR module.  That is, a module that looks like a typical TSR module with a Letter system (ST1), cover and game book.



That is probably true. Not nearly as rare as a Jade Hare w/Cover, however . . . (though far rarer than a coverless Jade Hare).

The covered Jade Hare was never released officially as far as anyone knows, so I don't think that counts. (No letters on the cover of that one either, btw).



To say that Tsoj, Tamo & Inverness are not "professionally produced" and thus "don't count" is an interesting reason for something else being perceived to be "worth more" than any of those. People are free to throw their money around as they wish, but I insist there's just a little bit of tail wagging the dog. :)



oB3 would be rarer if "probably less than 100 copies still exist today" were true, but 200-600 is a more likely band for that. :(

I can see that to a certain extend, but truthfully that to me makes it more likely to survive the good old house cleaning "throw away", and when you put it in the context that it is 8 to 10 years younger then the holy trinity modules, it just doesn't seem to add up to me. I suspect as David does above, that many more than listed 20 to 30 survive today. Taking in to consiration that there has been at least 4 completely seperate ones that have sold in the last year alone, the survival rate has to be higher than 20 to 30.

Hi guys,



Well I think you're all crazy and I'd have been happy with a fiver, but who am I to stand in the way of market forces?



I understand you'd like a better description and some pictures, which seems fair enough.  



Cover- corners slightly creased, some white at top and bottom of spine.  

Contents- completely pristine.  I recall reading it but it was never played and I don't think it's been opened since I read it, which was probably on the way home from the Garden Festival.



Pictures will follow, hopefully later this evening.

Hi again.



It would be extremely indiscreet to reveal the source of the generous offer of £20.  Suffice it to say that I'm suitably grateful!



Pictures now available at Error 404 - Not found    They enlarge sufficiently to see pretty much every crease.  If anyone wants to copy them over to any space here feel free; it will save on our bandwidth.  Happy to answer questions here (although every time I get the damn thing out to answer them I live in fear that the cat will throw up on it.)



Can't remember much about the purchase, except that not many people seemed to be interested in buying them- not terribly surprising as the overlap between garden aficionados and D&D players is not likely to be huge.

hey listen, that is the honest truth. i really can't say but the a.n.other who advised me of such, i would trust 100% without any shadow of a doubt. that a.n.other also has one too, so thats 16 there :)
