Gutboy Barrelhouse is the name of an NPC dwarven fighter level 6, in the 1e DMG, page 71 :D

Be very careful with this PHB. Seller says

Hi,

The players handbook is harback. On the inside page it says, 6th printing, January 1980. It's in pretty good condition. I didn't realise it was this old.

And I didn't realise he was using someone else's images :?

Want to retract that bid Jon?

6 days left with an opening bid of $5.00. Early printing PHB.

Emailed the seller asking about the endpapers and the printing. Here's the reply "There is no printing number or isbn for this book. Inside pages are yellow (orangish yellow). Here is a high res pic of the copyright page. Exact text of the spine: Advanced dungeons & Dragons Players Handbook By Gary Gygax - Pic of Merlin then TSR Games POB 756 Lake Geneva.  Thanks, good luck."

Looks like it's a first printing.

Yes...and the book in the photo also appears to be the correct color for a first printing.

Well, I was hoping no one would notice that, but I guess since the secret is out, its time to throw in a bid.

Sorry about that bclarkie  :(   Just emailed to find out if the reference sheet is still in the back of the book.  Looks like the overall condition is pretty good.  Might go after this one too, my first printing is in horrible condition.

I'm in. My first has got masking tape on the spine. (hey, it was the first hardcover I ever bought and I used it everyday that summer.)

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Marlith,

Re that Nowhere Man tag. Wasn't that a tv show a few years back?

Yes. Only ran one year. I think it was a little ahead of its time or too close to the truth.

As far as I can tell, this guy should get his asking price.

This is an entire collection of modules for less than you would pay if you had to buy them individually.

Just the savings on shipping might make this one a bargain.

    Don't you think so?   8)

Ad&d Modules Lot | eBay

IF current trends hold true...shouldn't this lot sell for around $120?  Creep1962 is in on the ground floor with the first bid on this one.     :?

According to the seller, the reference sheet page is still there.

Interesting:

deimos's 1st print DMG has an opening bid last week of $39.99 and no reserve and receives ZERO bids:

Dungeon Masters Guide 1st Edition | eBay

This week he posts the exact same 1st print DMG with a $0.01 opening bid with a $39.99 reserve, and he gets this  :? :

Congrats D.

Yup...kinda stunned.  I did jazz the description up a bit, maybe that helped, I'm not sure.  But finally a rabid newbie bidder works in my favor!  (We're still not even yet, though, newbie bidders...so be forewarned.   )

Well done D!

This should come as no surprise to anyone  .... Sales that start with a low value even with a reserve tend to attract more interest.

Only if it's a rarer item. On the common stuff, it's a huge gamble starting with a cheap price and hoping for a bidding war.

My online store is mostly stocked with the fruits of low-starting-price auctions that failed to generate the desired bidding war ;)
