VERY nice -- and the 1st, not the Alpha Dawn re-release. We had a lot of fun times playtesting that... with Mike Gray as a player too, on sabattical from Milton Bradley. (He's the designer behind their GameMaster series, Shogun / Invasion America / et al. A high exec at MB now.) He liked playing the 'minkies'...

Hrmm... I forgot to ask about that one yesterday.

OK, auction is closed now, but does anyone with an H1 in SW have any comparison to make there?
Just wasn't sure, since it appeared the price was written (top-left) under the shrink and that general "fit" didn't look quite right to me.

(But hey, what do I know 'bout shrink... eh, Frank? :P)

::snicker::

(fyi, I shrink all outgoing paper goods sold; can help avoid potential moisture problems. Side effect of owning a bakery that does mail-order...)

If you've got a snipe on this one, make sure you check the sellers ammended description.  Now appears to be a one volume set! 8O

I pretty much understood that from his original description, but I am glad he clarified it. Hard to decide what to do with it. One of my personal pet peeves is when people "adjust" items. The people who just have to put everything in a three ring binder are in the same crowd.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I'm going to proxy bid for a buddy on this ( and many rares that come up now, unless I want it :)  ) and if it goes higher than what his max is on this I will be stumped but I guess not surprised. IMHO aside from the box ( which is beat ) this set is pretty much worthless unless you were going to actually use the set.

Unfortunately he has looked at my collection for the past 15 years with envy but now has the resources to build one and even is willing to pay the crazy prices stuff has been fetching   He'll end up paying 130X's more for say a "Pharoah" than I did ( is that right  $10-ish compared to an average $1300 ? still early for me  :?  )

Woodgrains are never worthless.  You could run them over with a leaky gasoline truck and light a match, they'd still command several hundred dollars. ;)  I'm thinking of throwing in another bid, while it's still "reasonable".

Yes, it was fairly clear anyway.  And on the positive side, it seems to have seen a lot of action.

Still might be a difficult decision for some I imagine, as it's a 1st print afterall (probably).  Not a bad alternative for those who object paying the ~$2k+ for an early woody in decent condition.

Well I guess nothing is ever "worthless" ,"cause anything is worth what people will pay for it" but seriously, unless you were going to fill a really bad hole that needed filling I would think a "collector" would wait for something better, there will always be something better :)

I mean I guess I would pay 10 bucks for a Hulk 181 with no covers and cat piss on it just to have it but I wouldn't pay $100 for it  because a "minty" one goes in the $1000's ( if that makes sense, I really shouldn't think/type before noon )

That aside, there will definitely be more bids, I have to snipe this with the final bid I have been given    which will probably be to low anyways  8O

Quite so. A completely empty woodgrain box like this -- even with taped corners -- could go for up to $500, mabe more. The cover sheet does appear clean. Many of us DO have extra booklets, remember, and transplants are common; I deal with 'em all the time at the GenCon auction. And tho the original textured booklets are harder to come by, some of us DO have extras, often acquired onesy-twosy over the years, just for this sort of situation...

So, I'm asking too much at $20 for the Hulk 181 I wiped my ass with?
