I'm thinking $1500 seems to be the upper limit for rare items, with a few exceptions. A year ago, it seemed to be $1000 - most rares that came up sold for about a grand, give or take. Now it seems the upper limit is $1500 - it doesn't matter how rare the item is compared to other rares (if you see what I mean) - if its a defined 'rare', it will fetch $1500 whether there are 50 in existance or just 5 (or just the one, as in the case here).

The exceptions would be items like 1st print woodies, or artifacts such as the Bottle Level plans.

Either way, a fantastic pickup.

Regards

Mike

Yeah, that's what I was bracing myself for.  I think I got exceedingly lucky on this one...

No <improv> or <IO> visible. (Or Ian to pop up with a bid to .pdf it, then resell a week later ;))

$1528 is about mid-range of what I was expecting the final result to be (had been guessing $1250-1750 - a rather wide band, admittedly!).
$2k+ would've been an eye-opener.

I'm promptly elevating this to crown-jewel status in my collection!

How much would you miss Inverness #300, then? Image

Congrats, Stephen: nicely led from the front. Hoping you've got a copy of WG5 to compare... ;)
(Maybe RJK or EGG has a spare, if not?! :D)

Would be interesing, that... :)
Personally I'd tend to agree more with the first sentence than the last; and Jeff's bids are the largest factor in the first, too, IMHO.

Going by recent sales (all better than average condition for their type); 3rd print Woodgrain = $500 (pretty flat, pricewise), unfoldered PotVQ = $600 (down), oB3 = $700-800 (thankfully well down on some of the earlier, crazy prices).

UK softie Monster Manual.

It's laminated and marked up, but might be a good chance to get one on the cheap:

Netbook so I am not sure. It is just basically a set of collected ideas from the Usenet Usergroups. I think that message boards might fall under public domain. Not sure of the intellectual property laws governing the Usenet or Message Boards. Any lawyers out there willing to give us a heads up on this?

Actually, I was expecting either that, Rahasia or both after seeing his area yesterday.

If one of you foreign-types wants to bid on it, I would be happy to bid on it for you and send it on over. First to ask, of course. I can't bid for 2 people!

Not only is it the SPI War of the Ring, but it's the version with the Gondor and Sauron expansions. A very nice find, if it's not totally thrashed, incomplete, etc. ... the guy doesn't even mention the game in the listing. :?

It's worth asking the guy, if anyone wants to puruse it. WotR is a nice little non-TSR gem to add to any collection.
