Hi, I would like to know just what is the average size collection that most of you have. I try to get mostly greyhawk stuff.

Hey, I'm with you Maxwell:  GH is my core interest, though I have many secondary interests, too (perhaps too many, as my wife occassionally opines ;) ).

Are there even 3000+ unique AD&D related items out there? Purely on a guess I estimated maybe 1000 TSR items, 1200 different periodicals and 300 non-tsr items total. I even think this is a bit on the high side. What types of items are these high numbers coming from?  How did people take the meaning of this poll? I assumed that it was anything directly related to AD&D (or D&D) including things like Judges Guild and periodcals but not including non-game products or duplicates.  Cheers, Curt

I took the poll at face value and used the following algorithm.  Look at the size of your closet that's filled with game stuff.  Calculate the percentage that's D&D (70%)  Figure the average size of a module/box set and source book  Divide the volume by average size.  Add the stack of boxes around your computer and office floor and divide by the quantity of packing material and round up.   Ergo... about 500 things.  The sad thing is... Figure the size and count of what you have left to collect and realize that some guys are checking the 3000 piece level on the poll and your closet is already full and bank account is empty.  Despair, Thy Name is D&D Collecting!

By my count, there are approximately 900 TSR released D&D/AD&D items.  This does NOT include:  Multiple prints (another 200-300?) Magazines (~300 Dragons, ~100 Dungeons, ~200 Polyhedrons?) Adventurer's Guild (~100) Promos, flyers, catalogs (~50-100?) Non-gaming material (total guess... 100? 200?) Third Edition (~50) Foreign releases (~500?) Third party (Role Aids ~50, Judges Guild ~100, other hundreds???) Miniatures (TSR licensed hundreds?, non-TSR licensed thousands?) Other RPGs (thousands)  So what all did everyone include when sizing there collections?  And remember, folks... it's not the size of the collection that matters, it's how you use it.

I included all the normal items ( modules, boxed sets, hardbacks, accessories ) , magazines ( dragon, dungeon, polyhedrons ), 3rd edition, foreign releases. I did not include multiple prints,  miniatures, or non tsr items (mainly because I do not collect these)  and I'm still looking for more  8O

how big is your ad&d collection
OK. Are we talking about all editions or just AD&D? What about non-AD&D tsr stuff, magazines and novels?  According to the D&D collection web site there are about 1107 products for all editions(including foreign editions) of D&D. Now, I don't think this includes many 3rd party 3e products nor does it include any of the magazines.  If we're including individual magazines and novels that would boost my count up about 500.   Say there are 1100 products, 700 perodicals, 300 novels, and 300 3rd pary products. That gives a total number of products in the 2,000 - 3,000 range. I don't think there is over 3,000 unique products. I'm not counting the PDFs available for purchase through SVGames of old TSR products. That might be enough to boost the total number above 3,000.

200+ for me.  I mostly stick to AD&D 1st edition stuff, though I do have a small quantity of 2E, particularly Birthright, for which I've got almost everything.  I also do Traveller, C&C, GURPS and CoC, though - my *total* collection is around 1500 pieces, not counting magazines.

I would be tempted to add in:  Covention Programs~100 (even Gen Con put out 2 different guides each year for many a year)  Convention goodies~ 200+ (I have a dozen coffee mugs and 10 different bookbags, etc.)  TSR T-Shirts~ (I own 40 unique T-shirts)  Non-gaming~ See the Unusual items topic thread in this section along with items above I could add nearly 20 iron on patches, a dozen pins, 4 belt buckles for example...)  Add on the hundreds if not thousands of NonTSR D&D related material you could conceivable gather 3000+ materials. 5000 is much harder to believe but who really knows for sure.   Check out Larry Schicks Heroic Worlds for a long list of ancillary gaming material...

Why is it spelled wrong?Oh I get it you mean that that means only one of a kind RIGHT? OOPS my mistake. Boy you sure pointed that one out. I bet your a college instructor arent you. I used the wrong word! I wonder if I will get fired for that? Maybe they will take away my citizenship.

Your point is what? That I used the wrong word? BIG DEAL get over it

This is the part where that I find humorous. Why would you possibly want me to look up that word? Does it have anything to do with AD&D at all? Nope sure doesnt, only pricks like you point shit like that out because you have this endless need to be superior to all others you feel threatened by. Is my posting wounding you. Does my statements about AD&D somehow wound you? What did I do to you????? Well let me see nothing!

Your just another ID of someone else or a prick. If thats all you can say is I cant choose words or some other stupid shit then your a prick. Everyone else knew exactly what i was asking here. Only the pricks are not smart enough to figure it out or the pricks smug attitudes cause them to post smartassed shit.

Thanks.
