Ok, here's the scoop: I will post a question once a week for 6 weeks. Whoever answers the most questions right wins a prize, free shipping and all. One answer per member.

Question 1: What creature has an ability which can turn a PC into that type of creature? It is also the name of one of my very favorite bands. Choose wisely.

I just know I'm going to be wrong, but lycanthrope was the first thing that sprung to mind.

BTW, Kyuss is the most underrated metal band I can think of. They are just about perfect for D&D.

Vocalist John Garcia, guitarist Josh Homme, drummer Brant Bjork and bassist Chris Cockrell made up Sons of Kyuss, their original name taken from a Dungeons & Dragons game.

How the phuq can you beat that?

Darn, I was gonna say "Green Slime".  Sounded like a good rock band, too.  :)

Frank, have you checked out Dungeon issues 124 and 125?

They start out a new campaign arc of adventures that focuses on Kyuss and his machinations to bring about the Age of Worms.  Erik Mona (GH guru extraordinaire, and editor of both Dungeon and Dragon) wrote the first adventure, "The Whispering Cairn," which is set in the Cairn Hills....

I don't have any Dungeons above #56, except 78 and 79. I'd love to have a complete run....

I think they rock in an encounter. When i ran The Lost City a while back (B4?)....i recreated the whole module the way i wanted it. When the characters got to the tombs, i had them encounter two Son's of Kyuss. Unfortunately, the group made easy work of them despite my best efforts. Jessica (my oldest daughter)...was quite funny tho. it was her first adventure that i DM'd and she didnt like the look of it whatsoever, so what she did, was pick up a coffin and attack the monster with it. i penalised her for being encumbered and being too bulky to attack, but said that if she rolled a 20, she would hit the monster with it straight on. 'lo and behold, a 20 and then she rolled another 20 *sigh* so i said she hit it square on with the coffin and smothered it. she then set a flask of oil alight and burned the coffin with the son of kyuss underneath. the other one was decapitated in half by the fighter and his massive TH sword.

was a fun encounter tho.

and as i said, great monsters to use. i also like coffer corpses.

Al

Are we nearly there yet?

You should definitely pick up issue 112, as well as the previous two I mentioned:  112 and 124 have the new Maure Castle/WG5 levels from Kuntz.  83 was pretty good too, it had Jonathan Tweet's version of the Dungeon of the Fire Opal from the 1e DMG (and it was pretty good, though not exactly what I did with mine, of course).

You know, I like Kyuss - but I really think QotSA is a better rock'n'roll band.  For STONER ROCK I really prefer the almighty and dreadfully magnificent MATT PIKE of HIGH ON FIRE (Sleep is also pretty gawdamm high, as well).

I saw Kyuss live. Truly D&D music.
I can't wait.
Question #2: What creature has the "kiss of death" as its main attack?
