I bought a ton of stuff from him when he ran an auction on greytalk a few years ago...mostly his personal copies of Star Frontiers, Gamma World and Boot Hill modules.  Didn't have him sign any of them, since he didn't write any of the items in question, at the time I thought that would have been odd, so I don't know if anyone believes me when I tell them that "This was Gary's personal copy of Ballots and Bullets"!!!!
Since then I've emailed him on several items that have come up over the years, based on my limited interaction I have to say the man is just everything you would hope for as the creator of your favorite pastime.  Always accomodating, just a great guy.  BTW have also had dealings with Frank Mentzer, he did me a major solid during the selfsame auction of Gary's stuff when Gary auctioned several SW copies of Divine Right and Frank won the lot after I took him to the wire with some heavy bidding....Frank ended up selling me two of the copies for myself  for well below market price...still have them... "Gary's personal copies of Divine Right!!!"

Hiya, nev. Long time, no see...
Will trade your winter for our summer! :D

btw. your post reminded me to finally try out your "auction sieve" software.
Looks like there was a lot of work in that, but having given it a go just now (or perhaps "been overwhelmed by it" would be closer the mark?), I'll probably be sticking to a few random manual eBay searches now and again.
(*listens for any sigh of relief*)

Many thanks for the "free offer", though! :)

Yeah, I've got to try it out too, I forgot.  I downloaded the smaller version and it politely mentioned I need the larger download (with JVM), and sadly over my phone line it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.  Maybe I'll burn it from work.

Lets see if we can find the furthest south ....

I am in Melbourne and will be in Tasmania next week.

Is there anyone from Southern Argentina or Antartica? :-)

Heya,
Yeah I'm visiting here pretty infrequently nowadays - just don't have the time. Too much stuff on the go.

Speaking of which... I just set up this site :
Myscreencast.com

I'm gonna be doing some screencasts of AuctionSieve soon, so hopefully that will provide a gentle introduction.

In the meantime, anyone else - feel free to do your own screencasts of how you use AuctionSieve!

In fact I think I'll post a new topic...

Hey Clarkie,
How've you been?

What do you mean, like, in a metaphysical sense or what?

Hey Stephen,
Nah, I was just wondering because you haven't been around for awhile and now you say you are posting from the 68th parallel. :? Are you hunting polar bears up there or something.

He heard that the discarded TSR art had been sighted up there, so he went to check it out.

Damn, you're on to me!

Man, this would be the perfect place for a marathon D&D session - full daylight 24 hrs a day.  I have absolutely NO sense of time anymore.

Stand by for an update.

Meanwhile, enjoy your summer in the temperate and sub-tropical zones, my friends.

Quick, fill some baggies with snow. Then sell genuine Arctic Snow on eBay (tho guaranteed to change state by the time it arrives).

Greetings from 68 degrees North, once again.

There's plenty of snow, but damn, somebody forgot to bring the baggies.

You guys are nuts to be bidding that high on the WoM, but good luck anyway.
