I bought a ton of stuff from him when he ran an auction on greytalk a few years ago...mostly his personal copies of Star Frontiers, Gamma World and Boot Hill modules.  Didn't have him sign any of them, since he didn't write any of the items in question, at the time I thought that would have been odd, so I don't know if anyone believes me when I tell them that "This was Gary's personal copy of Ballots and Bullets"!!!!  
Since then I've emailed him on several items that have come up over the years, based on my limited interaction I have to say the man is just everything you would hope for as the creator of your favorite pastime.  Always accomodating, just a great guy.  BTW have also had dealings with Frank Mentzer, he did me a major solid during the selfsame auction of Gary's stuff when Gary auctioned several SW copies of Divine Right and Frank won the lot after I took him to the wire with some heavy bidding....Frank ended up selling me two of the copies for myself  for well below market price...still have them... "Gary's personal copies of Divine Right!!!"
