http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=2545  WHOA!  8O  8O  8O   Is this guy trying to make a quick buck off some unfortunate person or what?  I have a lot of problems with rpgs with HUGE prices put on them. I have never seen a Deities with cthulhu sell for 149 and this guys price is ridiculous.  Anyone want to chime in or send links on items that have prices inflated?

If you read the discription it even hyas a Nice  owners name whited out of the front cover. LOL  That is almost too funny.  Least Someone could do is be honest and leave it and not expect near that amount. LOL

Maybe he was looking at an old GameScience catalog ad from Dragon magazine! ;)  Seriously, I have heard people refer to this item as if it were actually worth this kind of money. I try to disabuse them of the notion when I can, but they never seem to believe me.

The story of the Deities and Demigods is very mainstream among people who played the game in the 80s. Its very surprising to walk into a rpg store these days, chit chat with a person and then ask them what the rarest D&D item they have. What do you hear? Deities and Demigods with the "banned" cthulhu and melnibonean mythos. I hear this constantly. Its also referred to as the "holy grail". Little do these people know that the deities is not the holy grail. However its very mainstream knowledge among many gamers. Like DCS said about people who think this item is so rare and expensive but don't believe him when he tries to dispel that myth.  Among many old time gamers, the Deities is the holy grail. I think with the advent of the acaeum, slowly these people are finding out that the Deities is not the holy grail and that there are much rarer items.

Here's an overpriced auction listing from my perspective.  Curious to see what the rest of you think.  http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... egory=2545

I've seen that auction and I think the price is set pretty high. Polyhedrons don't seem to have much popularity and that affects their price. The RPGA slipcase is pretty neat though and is worth something.  Overall I think the auction price on that is pretty high but not as inflated as the Deities!!

Bartman I would say it was High, Unless " Every Issue is Inside a plastic cover with a carboard backing and in absolute off the press Condtition."  Although they are not popular, there will come a day they are worth alot more that that. If they are in the above condition.  Just my two cents worth.

I agree but you never know what the future holds with collectibles of any kind.

I was talking to Adam the other day and was gonna bring up those 3 auctions. The guy Rick_Bauer is a member of the forums as well! He should know better than to pay 100 on a Eldritch for 100 8O  8O   Perhaps he has a ton of money and does not care how much he spends on this stuff. He pays more than burntwire if thats even possible!

Clearly, the seller made a mistake on that buy it now. Forget to put a decimal point between the 9s.  Imagine the sellers fees if someone does use that buy it now :-D

Would have to say that was a typo - forgot to enter the period.  I better be careful about doing that myself.  With the cash registers at my workplace, you enter the number without the period.  Someone gives me a $100, I enter 10000.   Ð

Now that's just plain stupid. I've seen Menzoberranzan go for a fair amount, but 61 pounds? My local store has a shrink-wrapped copy for $20 Canadian.   Maybe it's time to go pick it up....
