So, my question is, how much would you expect a copy of Chainmail to go for?

I was watching this auction:

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem& ... T&rd=1

and i was rather surprised at the winning price, but should I be? It *is* a 7th printing. But still. I was expecting it to go for more. If my wife wasn't completely pissed at me right now for already spending too much lately, I woulda bid on the damn thing. Especially if I knew it was gonna go for so cheap.

I thought this would go higher (about $20), and had it on my watch list.  I bowed out because I didn't remember if I had asked the seller if he shipped to Canada, and because at the time grodog was the high bidder.

(Yes, I occasionally try to avoid bidding against Acaeum members, mostly because I know I won't win, so why push up the bid?)

That is quite honorable of you sir, as an Acaeum Member and one of those whom you might have otherwise bid against, I thank you. 8)

Awww.... sorry, Draco... :(

Yeah, I'd expected that other to be a reasonable pick-up, being stated as U.S. only.
The $50 copy went to Italy, but is still "too high" more than the former is "too low", IMO.

The only 3rd eds. which are undervalued on The Acaeum estimates are the early staplebound copies, the first of which pre-dates the Greyhawk T1st by a good few months. (Very definite hints as to low printing runs from that...).

says inside the book that its a 3rd edition/3rd print (june 1976)

picked it up with an eldritch wizardry 4th print and a swords & spells 1st print...

quite a nice lil trio really...pity i don't like them :)

*blinks, trying to figure out the context*
*reads back*

Oh, how much your's is "worth" you mean, Al... Sorry!

If it's a decent copy and listed as an "early print", ya might get away with a $35 BIN. However, if there are people (or perhaps only one? ;)) willing to jump at a $50 starting bid for a wizard print... *shrugs*.

*points to the "OCE cheap" thread, if you dislike them that much* :P

Chainmail vs. Swords & Spells? Heh; might be a good question, that. ^^
(And why was the latter "hastily produced"? :?)
