I just got home from the airport.  All I can say is that Jim's take was spot on.  The auction room was electric.  It seemed like there were more people than ever and the prices being paid were noticeably higher.  Not the same characters either, these were new buyers.   The store room was insane.  By Saturday, the room looked deserted, everything had been sold.   The new space is massive and the shopping experience is 1000% better.

After all was said and done, the auction set a new record for the number of items sold and the dollars paid.

Time to catch up on some sleep!!

Neal

Anyone know how that auction went? Just how collectible is Disney in the D&D multiverse? A Pete's Dragon toy from a Happy Meal has been my go-to dragon mini for some time now, & I've found occasion to use other recognizable Disney bric-a-brac in games as well. I could actually put a set of dwarfs from Snow White minis to good use.

For instance, uranium was first refined from slag heaps outside German mines (lots of Tolkien references to slag heaps). There's something called 'hard-luck rock' which forms around the edges of some silver deposits. If you're mining silver & you get to this kind of rock, you've got hard luck because there's no more silver, & that's why it's thrown onto slag heaps as a waste product.

So let's say your PCs are attempting to find enough uranium for a thermonuclear implosion device to fulfill some campaign-related purpose or quest/geas. The scenario could allow them to encounter dwarfs who are all upset that Snow White won't f*** them anymore because they're out of silver. Will they join forces to find the hard-luck rock, or become bitter enemies of the PCs? Will environmentalist elves try to clear away the slag heaps before the PCs can take the fissionable material? Only the roll of the dice can tell, but I need correct-scale minis in case the tactical situation requires it.

Yes, that set sold for $1300.00

It is the rarest of items produced by Grenadier Models.  It was made to be sold in the Emporium shop in Disneyland in 1979, but the deal was scrapped due to concerns with lead poisoning in children. The remaining sets were given to Grenadier employees.  Very few of these are still know to exist.  This particular set was still factory sealed and was absolutely beautiful.   A one of a kind item to be sure.

Anyone have a list of the top 15 or so items and prices paid? Thanks!

Thank you for posting those results. The 3rd print character record sheets and slabbed R series went for more than I would have expected for sure. So, thats nice. :)

Thanks sir! Very interested to see the slabbed stuff making an appearance at the GC auction. I have a feeling it is going to pop up more and more in auctions like this.

Thanks for posting!

I think were are in a slower period before the story of 2024. Maybe mid or late 2024. :)
