So I'm guessing at this point I'd consider these fakes?

It looks like 21 copies of the Players Handbook have already been sold as singles and in sets and they continue to be listed.  Out of curiosity, for those that have bought these, does the handwriting on the back matchup with the photos in the auctions or is there variation?

Doing a bit of poking around, these are 100% fake.  Seems there are a few accounts selling similar types of stickers but the auction format is the same.  Most listed "They are pre production pieces." or only to Corporate clients or were suppose to be given away but weren't.  Same statements about taking photos at different angles ...
Ya, 100% fakes, no doubts there anymore.

Here's on for a 2016 Dave Matthews concert with the same windmill "Corporate Use Only" sticker on the back:

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

Or Rick and Morty:

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

Not to mention that the original account is selling other (likely fake) similar format stickers:

2019 Pokemon sticker
"These were supposed to be distributed to the winners of each event but they never were":

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

UNDERGROUND GARAGE Maximum Rock & Roll Holograph Sticker:
"My wife worked in the music industry for years and was able to obtain a few of these being that she was a fan."

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

There are nice youtube videos that shows these are easy to make at home with a normal printer.
21 sets of D&D stickers sold at about $200 or so each => $4000K+ not bad for a scam you print up at home

If you have the time, it seems really easy to make these kind of cards - I watched a couple short youtube videos like this one:  How To Make Your Own Foil/Holographic Trading Cards At Home! - YouTube

Maybe a nice project for the kids?

At some point the auctions probably won't link in these messages so here's a short summary of at least some of the associated scamming sticker guys.  I guess if you want to buy them (knowing they are fakes), then maybe try to get them through ilovecraps - at least the daughter is still alive there.

bigbarry725
My wife worked in the music industry for years and was able to obtain a few of these being that she was a fan.
we have some grandchildren starting college soon and want to help them out that’s why we are selling.

This is a Brigantine Castle Haunted Amusement Pier in Brigantine NJ (close to Atlantic City & Zaberer’s)
My father worked here for years and managed to save some items.

my uncle Robert Duller had who worked at TSR in the 70’s and 80’s in their marketing department

primenumber73
"Do not fall victim for anyone selling unauthorized and copies of these"

Franklin Mint sticker

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

My father worked at the The Franklin Mint in the Philadelphia, PA area for over 35+ years
The workers in the company were able to go to corporate functions and he was able to obtain a few of these unique holographic stickers

These were my daughter’s She is selling for my granddaughter’s college fund coming up quick

My husband used to work at Starbucks and we went to a corporate event in Seattle at Starbucks a few years ago.

kathybird
PLAYBOY HOTEL & CASINO ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY NJ off the boardwalk plaque
I worked there and was able to take some of these when I left in 1984 when they unfortunately shot down and then the Atlantis took over (where I worked as well for a brief period of time)

My daughter dated somebody in management for the Dave Matthews Band and that’s how these were acquired. She recently passed and I am liquidating her collection to put the money aside for my granddaughter
I am liquidating my daughter’s collections to raise some money for my granddaughter’s college tuition

Garden State sticker

** eBay auction listing blocked.  Please enable cookies in your browser for this site and for eBay! **

These were my husband’s who recently passed
He had an event in 1997 where they were going to introduce a token set by the Franklin Mint for the GSP’s 50th Anniversary. The Garden State Parkway didn’t end up doing the set and the commissioner gave some of these decals that were #’d to my husband.
* also note that the hand and background in this one is the same as the one from the seller above.

ilovecraps
My daughter was/is a HUGE fan of ONJ & owns a few of these in her collection
Now she wants to sell them to help her daughter with college expenses and I told her I would sell them for her

Its pretty easy to tie all these accounts together as being the same group.

I shared this link with the seller through eBay and instead of defending "them"selves they accepted all return requests to avoid eBay scrutiny. Mark obviously nailed it with his investigation! That seller and all its incarnations needs to go under Shaddy Sellers. Is there a" Fakes" thread in the Acaeum too? If not I feel it may be time for one as values increase.

I have been in touch with the local police about another scam and will point them to this one, for what its worth.

The seller also posted these on one of the Facebook groups but I can't seem to find the post.  If anyone sees it, it would be good to leave a note there that these are fakes.

It was posted on the Facebook Acaeum.  It wasn't the seller though.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Acaeum/ ... 0898571558

Seems like a lot of work to build fake stories for these, just to make a few extra $$.  If it's truly a scam, the seller is about as dishonest as you can get.

mrsnickers is another one of their Ebay accounts so up to 5 that I can link together as the same person - same backgrounds in items being sold, etc.
* some of the same items for sale too like the coffee burlap sacks and D&D cards.
Adding the 8 PH holo stickers this account sold, there are about 30 sold across accounts.

Same format of listing:
Smokey the bear sticker: My mother had a few and I’m going to try and see if there is any interest in it
Howard Stern sticker: These are rare because they were ONLY given to staff. My husband worked at the station for years and got them.

I bought one of these cards and after reading this topic I asked in a very kind and transparent way to have a full refund:

Hello Chrissy, in the last days in my online community I had the unpleasant circumstance to read this topic: Are these ligit to the era?
Since more than one of the fellows of this community reported that you are open to a refund, I'd kindly ask you to have a full refund of my purchase. For your convenience the Paypal transaction ID is ### while the ebay transaction ID is ### (and the ebay auction nr is ###).
Re to the card, since I sent it directly to my friend ***, please let me know if you want it back or if I can ask my friend to pulp it.
I look forward to hearing from you, thanks a lot in advance
Axel

This is the reply I got from here:

Hello Axel
I am actually not open to a refund of any sort
I have been forthright with each buyer and was honest to a hilt
The buyer was in Canada and because these are 100% authentic and I sent eBay all my uncles private documents of my uncle’s work history I didn’t have to do it but because I am busy with work I did it for the one person. I will not do it for anyone else
They exclaimed to me that in any form of a collectibles market prices fluctuate this is the exact same thing and I did t think about that before but it is true I suppose it’s like Bernie babies however that being said this does have actual history
Therefore I will not accept the returns of anyone else. And for the record he never actually returned the items to me he still has them
Thanks
Chrissy

I have now written her a second time asking her to reconsider my request since there is not any evidence supporting different facts from those highlighted here.
I really hope she will understand that it is better to give up rather going forward...

I am the buyer "she" refers to, who got them to issue a refund. We believe it is a couple actually who is behind the scam, given the hairy hand on some pics. (Apologies if I offend any hairy-hand female here!)

I reported them to ebay (the seller report function is buried in the Help page) as well as reported every of their items as fake. Strength is in numbers with eBay so please do so too.

The craziest part is eBay does not allow submitting negative feedback on transactions. They keep popping a message asking me to "work it out instead", even though the Negative option is offered on the screen it all greys out when submitted. Criminal.

I also sent them the following message, which you are free to use. Some cut and pasted from Mars great investigation. My hope is at some point ebay will pick up on them. I am idealistic like that.

But they know that if the return is denied and no resolution is found, ebay has to investigate and will look into the messages. This is why I wrote it like that and likely why they accepted the return, to avoid triggering an eBay investigation.

Note you actually have to use the return label and send the items back to get the refund, since eBay does not seem to have a refund function that accepts the destruction of fakes. I will leave it with you and your imagination to assess what best to return...

Here is the message I sent:

"Christine B Nodler, can you explain why you use 5 ebay accounts to sell the fake color stickers with similar fake stories about your family members, who somehow all got access to those magical items through some corporate events? Justforlaughs9, Kathybird, primenumber73, just to name some...
And then you have things like these D&D cards which are suggested to be from early 1980s using the same "Corporate Use Only" windmill sticker as a recent never released to public McDonald's Rick and Morty card?  TSR in 80s using the same company McDonalds uses today doesn't seem possible.  Oh and the same company using these stickers also does Dave Matthews band.
Ya 100% fake and you're a scammer.
Why do you do this? Is that for the money or you take pleasure in it?"

The scammers addresses are in Philly and Atlantic City, also shown on the postal trackings. I bought those items from 2 different profiles with the exact same handwriting on both - I keep pictures of all packages.

It looks like the name Christine B Nodler is real and she indeed owns the apartment at the provided address in Philly. The other address is "56 Galleria 08330", which is Atlantic City.

They will learn better than to eff with a bunch of obsessive-compulsive detail-junkie collecting addicts like us! ;)

Thanks for all the work. I’m new and came across this thread from a friend
On a personal level honestly I love mine I’m happy with them
I even put them in a magnetic frame to put around my office and fridge
I contacted them as a friend of mine wanted them too and they don’t have anymore.
They said they looked at the family member’s home and there wasn’t anymore
They said only an old Dungeon boardgame and a vinyl decal nothing else D&D related
She seemed very nice
I thanked her and that was that
I appreciate the work you folks are doing. Just seems like a lot of time
I wish I had that time.  I figure if I spend $200 on my childhood
Love I made out. Can’t even take my family to a game these days for that
To each their own but I get it

Have a good weekend

Hello Gregory, i had been involved i two cases in my past experience which are similar to the current one. As I am aware that ebay won't do anything to protect the buyer, i have opened a file to the FBI section which is in charge of the postal crimes. That was sufficient in the past to make their mind up and accept to send me a refund (being a non-US it is not clear to me what could happen once the case within that office starts). I have written to Chrissy a second message asking very politely to reconsider her position. I will wait till tomorrow and then act consistently.
I hope she/he/they will wise enough to avoid this scenario... for a single sticker that is completely worth to my eyes! If they don't think so, they will bear any further consequence.
Thanks again and keep you updated!

Yes I get it too. One must pick their battles. We have different contexts in that regard. For a serious collector such items are the plague. Encouraging cheating on descriptions and trademark infringement (I believe the TSR brand has been secured again after WOTC let it elapse) by "doing nothing" is just not something we can do :) it's an OCD thing! ;)

Well done my friend. Hopefully between the 2 of us and the authorities we are going to spook them enough. If I lived in Philly or Atlantic City I'd even pay them a visit (with the cops if possible!)
