Same here.  I wont buy from Creep or Cougar either for similar reasons.  Her business tactics are downright evil...Creep and Cougar are just stupid.

And on a side note to Xaxaxe.  Please do us all a favor and change your avatar.  One of my cats retch every time they see it...and frankly I get a bit queasy as well.  :P

Everyone makes a few mistakes, and I did the mistake of purchasing from Tonya once.

It was my first eBay purchase, so I think I'm partially forgivable. At the time, I didn't care about SW, or even condition. There were simply two modules I had been looking for since 1992, and I found them in Tonya's shop. Plus there was a book a friend of mine had requested. 13.83 dollars for the items, 12 for shipping. Because I requested surface mail. I was ignorant about overseas shipments then, so I chose the least expensive solution. Today I know that 12 dollars for surface mail is pure theft, I did not then.

The shipment was slow. The items arrived over 3 months after being purchased. And, unfortunately, this is regular with surface mail. This is the reason why I now always choose to pay more and have a decent shipping.

But that's not all. Of the three modules, only one was in a decent condition. Ok, I stated I did not care about condition, but there was a limit even there. The book had pages falling loose; my friend was somewhat disappointed and had to get a new copy. And one of the modules had the fold cover cut and separated, plus it had something unpleasant (maybe very, VERY old chewing-gum) stuck on the last page. I gave that copy away and had to get a new copy.

I did not make any protest; i couldn't even leave feedback after more than 3 months. However I swore I'd never purchase from her again.

In the end, I think her business is not on her own; I think she works with and for her father, to have a larger business.

I am sure that miss Melissa, assuming she exists, will be very happy to have her disease revealed to the whole world. If I had a cancer, I'd make all efforts to let everyone know that I am under chemotherapy. Melissa is lucky to have such a voice like miss Tonya to make all her personal facts widely known.

The only point I could score for Tonya King is that she has cougar on her blocked list. I'd pay to know how the discussion between the two went. Titan clash, for sure.

The sad part is I keep seeing that avatar and thinking that she has now joined the forum. :P

Yep, that's Tonya... though at conventions, when she helped her dad work the booth, she often wore a chainmail bikini...

My dealings with Tonya, which have, albeit, only ever been in person at conventions and never on eBay or via e-mail, have always been pleasant. But then, she was working directly for her father at those shows.

Before I got into buying through eBay, I bought directly from Titan via phone, and always found Marcus to be good to work with; I remember one occasion when they bent over backwards to get me a boxed set I needed ASAP. Their shipping has always been expensive, it's just an element of dealing with them -- of course, that can easily catch up the uninitiated.

As for the exchange posted between Tonya and a customer... that's just so very wrong on her part. Utterly wrong. There's no excuse for treating a customer that way in that exchange. It's more than just the "Internet distance" issue in this; there's an utter disregard for customer service in her attitude. Sounds like Marcus needs to give her a talking to...

I'd like to point out that a google search for tonya + ebay + reseller + rpg + webring returns tons of porn and hijack links.

HMM.

Why post personal attacks on Tonya here?  I fail to see what constructive purpose the attacks serve.

She charges too much for shipping and apparently leaves nasty feedback.  Don't tell me that this warrants the venom on this thread.

Have you read everything that was posted yet since last night?  She is also a total liar and she bascially tells her customers(some of which who post here) that have legitimate complaints to go f**k themselves. Then of course there is publically throwing of her *employees* under the bus for her auction & shipping problems.  I also seem to think that publically announcing to the world your employee having cancer(assuming that this is even true at all) and thus being able to perform her job duties satisfactory is a bit on the dispicable side as well.   I can see where all of this might inspire a bit of venom by people.

Hmm.....
Maybe we can somehow get Tonya and the Coug to Hook Up together.
Then they'd both be off of ebay - and instead of trying to f*** us, they'd be f****** each other.

NOTE - I have never bought from Tonya, but I have had dealings in the past with the Cougmeister (a pleasant one).

Dave, get the barbarian in the corner a drink, quick!

Tonya's obviously out of her depth in running her eBay store.  She also needs to learn a lot about customer service and professionalism.  Whether she knows or cares that she's shooting herself in the foot is another matter.

However, this is turning into a huge tirade against Tonya, who isn't here to defend herself.  I'm all for slagging people every now and then, but the mudslinging is getting a little personal.

We can see that purchasing from Tonya runs a risk of being a bad experience.  If something I bought took three months to arrive, I'd be pissed, too.  We can watch and laugh as she destroys her business; we don't need to attack her.

There are more than enough newbies on eBay each month for her business to succeed even if experienced buyers never buy from her again.

If you want to affect change, you need an unbiased factual site and to direct her bidders to that site.

Exactly so.  The shipping is stated up front.  The nasty responses...and I have gotten one myself for asking about cheaper shipping...are what is so curious.

The strategy is to offer lower prices and high shipping.  As I understand it, Ebay does not get a chunk of the shipping, so they make more money that way.

Given the obvious consumer tendency to purchase low price without considering the cost of shipping, this strategy appears to be working.

Is it scificityonline that has everything for $1 but charges a flat $10 shipping?  Sickening.
