If they're half decent, flog 'em for $50 BIN, each, over a month or two and invest the money sensibly.

JMO, of course ;)

Did just that last year. I had found about 5-7 through various means, and I sold them on eBay to raise some money for my trip to Las Vegas in August.

I felt kind of bad after I got back. But I just found a new copy (T1st) in NM condition! So I'm fairly happy.

Just so you know, sometimes you can get real lucky on selling those. I actually sold one last February for $91.00. Wasn't even Near Mint NICE!!! :D :D :D

Actually, I think Deities & Demigods with Cthulhu is one of the highest priced items out there - relative to its rarity. We all know that they are not hard to get. . . yet a book in decent condition should always bring in around $40-$60 (and sometimes much more!)

And yet. . . the 1st print Players Handbook I just sold went for $71.00. . .

Deities & Demigods is an interesting item. . . many casual collectors don't really care if they have a 1st print Players Handbook - any nice Players Handbook will do.

But Deities & Demigods? Everyone wants a Deities & Demigods with Cthulhu/Melnibonean Mythos. In part, its because the myths are pretty cool with some very different and powerful gods based on books that are also very popular. . .

But I think, that in large part, it is because a Deities & Demigods without these myths just doesn't feel complete. . . something is missing from all the other prints with only 15 myths. . .

To try and draw a parallel: Imagine if the first two prints of the Players Handbook had 10th level Magic-User spells. . . and then TSR decided to drop 10th level spells and ALL future editions only had up to 9th level. . . I guarantee you that EVERYONE would want one of the "10th" level versions - I bet 1st and 2nd print Players Handbook would jump to double or triple their value.

Or, what if only the 3rd print Monster Manual had "devils" listed - and the rest didn't?

Many collector's aren't interested in prints. . . but the Cthulhu/Melnibonean Mythos are the ONLY version of this book that will satisfy.

I agree with BTB here. It took me a while but i ended up with a mint copy and am well pleased with it and am so glad i took the time hunting one out. i have some spare ones too, in not as good condition which i will offload, and being a nice dad, i gave my daughter a full set of the core books to play/dm 1st AD&D - with a deities with cthulhu in - she was ecstatic. problem is, my other daughter wants one now  :?

Just to draw a parallel with the PDF thread...imagine if WoTC released the two "missing" mythos as a PDF?  The price of this item on eBay would drop like a rock...

I picked up a very battered 1st print for next to nothing, just to check them out, and frankly I was disappointed.  I had never seen that level of "divine munchkinism", which seems to prevail in any modern mythos.  Even more so than the 1st Ed. Greyhawk "quasi-deities".  I just can't accept that these deities would kick Norse/Egyptian butt, and they would, according to the stats.

There has been a PDF of the two missing pantheons running around for the past three years. It's freely available on Kazaa as well as some of the Yahoo Groups.

ST1 is not as available. It took me almost six months to get a copy. The same goes for Dwarven Glory and The Misty Isles. I've not come across anyone with PoVQ yet, but there's probably a few. I have one.

Should we post them and see if the prices drop? 8O

Only kidding. :D

This week I've been mostly eating . . . minestrone soup.

Well, when I'm wrong, I'm wrong    However, that's not exactly the same as WoTC producing one.  I don't use Kazaa (for a lot of reasons), but I'd definitely pick up one off of the official site.

I stopped using Kazaa a while back. Too many adverts. Too many viruses. Too much porn. To top it all off, I could never be too sure about how much their software was screwing with my PC. When I decided to run my own business, I needed a PC that didn't have down time, so all that sh*t had to come off.

For those of you here that use a peer-to-peer application like Kazaa but don't want the spyware and pop up advertisements there is a version called Kazaa Lite.  There is no spyware and no pop-ups and it pretty much works exactly the same as Kazaa.

I have been using it for a couple of years now and have never had a problem with my computer.  I run active scans for spyware at least once a week and the applications I use never find anything that could be considered spy- or malware.

I spent some time looking for ST1 the other day after reading another post and couldnt find it on any of the Kazaa networks or using Google.

I agree btb---content is king, in many collections.  The Greyhawk content is certainly why I hunted down copies of the original geomorphs (thanks to stormber's tip), and Greyhawk content is similarly why I hunt old tourneys, too....

Could you elaborate? Greyhawk content in the old Geomorphs?
