I do not recognize the seller.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just noted as well, this auction references the Acaeum for more info. :D

First, he point-blank refused to send a better unaltered scan because of the risk of forgeries (good sign, IMO!), then he stated that he authenticated it via the Acaeum "sage".

I'd take that as a thumbs-up, but would have appreciated someone here admitting to having OK'd it, if they had indeed done so... ;)

<aneoth>, I'd love to know how you found out all that within 40 minutes of auction-start! 8) :P

Seller restated history about being a direct purchase from the RPGA; "There is a paper clip crease on the top left corner from the paper clip used when it was originally mailed out to me from the RPGA" on the auction description (i.e. not just "sold at GenCon conventions"; although if that's the case, why aren't there a few more around?).

Sorry, I do not recall your listing for a T-1st, but I do recall this recent one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEDW:IT

Yes, I agree that the tape likely did it. As otherwise mine is in at least as good a condition if not better than the one above.... And there are No red ink lines in mine....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEUS:IT

BUT; About half as much bid and someone would have had mine with the reserve met..... :?

By the way, that red ink came right out.   :P

No.... :?

Your kidding right??

Where do you get your ideas?

What have I said or done to make you believe that??

That thought never entered my mind.

I based my Reserve Price (IN PART) on the Acaeum's Grading list. I use the Acaeum's list as a base from which to begin my own process to determine grading (And a rough starting point for value) on all of my D&D items, as I always have... at least since I found the Acaeum that is.

I only URL'd the auction above as an example of one that I knew recently sold on E-Bay and only for the specific post above. And I did not say my copy was in better condition than either Frank's, or the Brothers Burn, or anyone else's copy. Nor do I recall (In my listing description) ever having compared my copy to ANYONE else's copy. I do not even recall seeing Frank's listing so I will take your word on those details (which I believe are factual). I did not compare my copy to anything except itself, the Acaeum's grading list and my own methodolgy, which has nothing to do with anyone else's copy or listing.

And though the copy I listed above sold for almost twice my copies reserve price, I did NOT in any way, use that listing as some sort of standard for my listing.

I did not think my reserve price was out of line when I set it up and I still don't.

If that means I will be keeping it... then that to is OK too....

I just asked you, <aneoth>, hence the question mark.

You mentioned Burnie's auction and that your copy didn't have red lines, as though that was relevant in some fashion.

Aneoth wrote:If that means I will be keeping it... then that to is OK too....

No probs :)

If you really wanted to sell, you could have simply asked the high bidder or anyone else whether they wanted to pay your reserve price, no?

Thanks.

Noted the "...having purchased it in the 80s from a hobby shop for a small fortune" comment. Tallies well-enough with my recollection of prices prior to 2e.

(Still like that ol' "only about 10,000 were produced" comment, since the number printed was almost the same in the early #30s, as mentioned in passing.

Even fewer people willing to sell #1s for $1 each, though ;)).

Hey Aneoth, if it makes you feel any better, I was seriously considering bidding on your 1st print MM for the $25.00. I actually may still be interested, so if you are still looking to sell it, PM me.

As far as the T1st greyhawk, my finances at the time just aren't to the point, considering all my other wins that I was able to bid high enough on it to make much of a difference.

Apparently bclarkie is my long lost twin.  I was salivating over both of those.  I already have a (rather beat up) 1st MM, so I took a pass on it, not that it wasn't worth $25 or more.  I just couldn't justify the upgrade at this point.

I don't own a T1st greyhawk, and probably never will.  I was very tempted to put in a bid, but assumed I'd get sniped out of the water or not hit the reserve in the first place.  I thought it'd go higher and I think a lot of people were surprised that nobody jumped.

Does anyone know it the R1 Pre-Pub is real yet? I'm not getting any response to questions. I've requested photos. Anyone else have any luck. I notice this guy has not much of an eBay history.

It seems to me, since the module is a PRE pub, that it wouldn't have been mailed out to people. The copies were numbered, and they were given/sold at conventions, no? Why would TSR print a few copies and mail them to RPGA members? Very shady......
