lol you know they have SW machines, I bought a Silver anv box came to me in SW I was like BONUS! But the guy told me he SWed it himself to make it safer to ship, so I ended up having to tear it open to see if it was complete, almost couldn't tell it wasn't the factory SW was that good..........

Bet some ppl are doing that shit...... re-shrinking to add vaule, kinda really dishonest though.

Draco, I know - as I work in the design and printing business. And I'd have access to those machines if I needed. But sure, wouldn't do that to a fellow collector. Well, to no one except someone obnoxious enough maybe... :twisted:

How long have you been in the printing business?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

since 1988 I work in advertising, first as a copywriter then I switched to the art director side. My last job as a freelance is to follow - from dtp to press - a pair of house organs for italian institutions (one, dedicated to mosaic tiles is distributed to a selected list of architects etc in Usa). So I know something about printing and printers (and SW machines). :)

The tech is still there - and it's very similar to other well used printing techniques. Besides, if I recall well, it's used for architectural plans. The trick is finding out a specialist who still does it.

It is indeed a VERY nice book.

No bids at all on the First Print MM either.

I must admit to being highly dissapointed in both listings.

It is not as if I was asking $1,000 for a Deities and Demigods with Cthulhu or anything silly like that.

And I do not recall seeing anyone link either of those auctions under the laughable items thread either. Maybe some of you wanted to, but were simply being nice by not doing so????

Even though I only rarely sell anything, I can honestly say that NO ONE who has bought anything from me has been dissapointed. Nor has anyone shown dissapointment who has traded with me. I do NOT overvalue any of the items I sell (with or without Reserves) nor do I overvalue any of the items I trade. And, if I list an item with a reserve price, or offer up for trade, then you can safely put money on the fact that that item is worth every cent of that reserve price, or the trade value I ask for.

Apparently I need some realistic selling lessons.

Perhaps LESS honesty and far less detail in the item descriptions? :!:

Perhaps I should offer blurred pictures that conceal detractions, rather than show the items as they actually are? :!:

Perhaps an adjusted attitude of "Let the buyer beware" is the answer to my selling woes. :roll:

But no. I am far too honest and would never stoop to such gutter tactics.

Instead of debasing myself, I would rather keep my crappy items to myself...... :lol:

IMO: It is/was the buyer(s) who lost out by not biddding up those listings higher. Not me.

Aneoth, you probably just got caught online and selling at a less opportune time is my guess: there have been some pretty heavy hitting lots online in the past month or so, so your stuff was probably simply missed by potential bidders and/or they were recovering from the various large iSoldIT lots lately.

I would say it is the tape that killed it. My greyhawk didn't go for much more.

Yes, I agree that the tape likely did it. As otherwise mine is in at least as good a condition if not better than the one above.... And there are No red ink lines in mine....

Frank's was just over $150 and didn't have any red-ink lines, either. Your copy was a bit better looking, but had that tape... At the very least that badly damaged its resale value, either for a collector (who would likely still be looking for a "better" copy), or for a reseller.

JM-02 cents anyhows...

I know how high I bid and still didn't hit the reserve (although it would have been pretty close).

So you based that on the $224 Burnie Bros. copy, then?
