offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBid ... 5954393158

beyondthebreach ( 1243) US $204.27 Feb-09-05 13:28:36 PST
imperial_sniper ( 32) US $201.77 Feb-09-05 13:28:23 PST
imperial_sniper ( 32) US $177.77 Feb-09-05 13:28:36 PST

The first and 3rd bids are at the exact same time all the way up to the exact second, which is weird all in itself, but look at the losing bidders 2 bidss. His 3rd place bid according to Ebay was actually placed chronologically after his second place bid by 13 seconds. Weird. :?

Well, I think what happened is we both sniped with a software (autionsniper delay defaults to 7 seconds and that is what I go with - so that explains the "up to the last second" same bids.)

I would imagine that imperial_sniper (professional sniper that he is :D ) placed his snipe with the software in the amount of $177.77.

But, he really wants the auction so he is watching it tick down. . . tick. . . tick. . . tick.

He sees the bidding increase and burntwire bids it up to close to his sniper-software bid at 13:28:14. So, imperial_sniper (famed sniper of the imperium) decides to up his max bid to $201.77 and submits about 13 secs after burntwire's bid.

His max bid is now higher than his previous max (but the current bidding is still below his sniper software bid). So, with 7 secs to go our sniper software's send in the bids which registers imperial_sniper (yes, THE imperial_sniper) twice on the bidding list.

My snipe is higher, so eBay ups the bid to the new Max that he manually entered 10 seconds earlier which becomes the "second place" bid.

And that is how it happened. . . I went to bed with 16 minutes to go. . . this is my third use of sniper software (I used to do it manually all the time, but life is just too busy to keep that up).

Just to give credit where it's due, Max has a good auction up.  Currently at $81, reserve not met.  If he hasn't scared off too many bidders yet, it'll sell well.  (I'm betting Cougar will take it as there is Bloodstone stuff in there.)

Why am I posting this?  Well, I love a well-planned lot.  I haven't been crazy about some of Max's earlier work, but this one is spot on...

This is nearly all of the high-quality D&D stuff ever written, in a single lot.  You've got Tharizdun, the Giants, the Temple, the Carl Sargent stuff, and a couple of B/X modules to start you off.  The screen, the sheets, & geomorphs are a nice touch, too.  I don't see the entire A series there, which might be the only flaw, but there are lots of tangental goodies depending on where the DM wants to go.  (I assume if you're reading this you already have the core hardcovers.)

Yep, this one seems to be one of the best planned lots that he has had on E-Bay in a while. There are several items in that lot that I have copies of, but mine are not as nice as those in this listing, and there are a few items that I do not have at all. I am watching, and if the bidding does not get too crazy, I may post a bid as well.

OK, OK... you can have the box!
(Would've left the bid until a bit later if I were you, however!)

Lotsa Gamma World stuffs...

$36 with 3 days to go

Space Gamers #4-9. *grumble* (Not sure I could justify a bid for the sake of one issue; nor, perhaps, Mike on the companion lot for the sake of two...)

Didn't know coug was after the likes of the "Book of Sorcery"

(is already about the same price as that and a couple of others from the series were going for whilst not being mentioned on the board, btw...).

*meh*. No response from that seller with the Misty (,MA, Elbrith, etc.) in the mixed lot;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5954995137 ,
to say whether they'd even ship to U.S. addresses for non-U.S. customers.

*shrugs*
OK; what about the other lots they have for sale, then?

I thought that Lizard Gamma World was an <invincible> speciality?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5954995185

The sleeper thus far appears to be;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5955061302
$35 with 2+ days to go
- Is there anything in there which isn't a first print??
Looks like a first Basic Set, and those D&DG, PHB, DMG and MM definitely require checking.
Heh, they've even thrown in a JG "Dark Tower"... (sells for silly money in the UK ;)
e.g. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5951493093 ).

Hi David -

Space Gamers #4-9. *grumble* (Not sure I could justify a bid for the sake of one issue; nor, perhaps, Mike on the companion lot for the sake of two...)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 5955870173

I'm thinking 2 issues in a lot of 5 is pretty good odds... well worth bidding on. Shouldn't have any problem reselling the three duplicates I'll get.

The other lot, where you'd pickup one issue out of six - that's a harder call. I'd probably still bid on it if I needed one of those issues, and throw the rest up. There's always a market for SG so you wouldn't have any problems passing any extras along.

BTW I went back and reread the crap KeepontheBorderlands sent to you and Deadlord regarding the WoM - nasty stuff. I regret trying to justify his actions.

Regards

Mike

I agree totally. Maybe I will also wade in their for the right price....
Shame though, I really think Max is costing himself money by not listing his items individually, but what can you do.

You know I bet your right it is costing me money not doing it individually but on the flipside it goes much faster and I have more time to... :P

Hmm... definitely said any non-U.S. bids would be deleted. Not the friendliest of signs.

Just opened at $5 with 6 1/2 days to go

(The description for the blue Basic book is a bit misleading *g*, but you might wish to re-check the condition of the other two books, if interested...).

Had to flip back to find this post... now at $87.51 with 3 1/2 days left....I wonder if the new "True first DMG" is a factor there...that one's in better shape than either of mine.

Palace of the Vampire Queen. Black folder version.

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte ... RK:MEBI:IT

Looks like a bit of a dodgy seller. No eBay activity in years. Low feedback and negative even then.

Gonna be fun.

I sent the guy an email requesting what the "error" is or did someone offer him a side bid to end it early. I was watching this one a few days ago, even had a nice big note for it, when it suddenly dissapeared from my watch list. If it wasn't for the above post I would have never found it again. Then to have the seller end it because of an "Error" in the listing?

Yeah right  ....its that kind of crap that is going to eventually make me give up collecting....to much of a headache

Maybe its time to just go postal
