D&D Dungeon Masters Guide | eBay

4 days left with an opening bid of $2.00. Looks like an early printing but the pics are small. Possible "D" in "Advanced" running of the edge of the banner and yellow/orange endpapers.

Nope. While the "D" runs off the banner on several printings to a minor degree, the occurance specified in the 1st printing is much more severe than that. Also this copy is listed as having 240 pages, the earlier printings have only 232. Unless you're a printing completist like me, it's probably not that interesting. ;)

Since I'm on a semi-charitable trend today, here is a first print DMG.  My bid shouldn't be all that hard to overwhelm, and I figure I don't really need 3 of the things. ;)

Not special or rare modules, but CB1 and CB2 together for $12.95 BIN is not a bad deal. Especially since they are both shrinkwrapped.

Just wanted to pop in to let you guys know that Paizo publishing still sells their original back issues of Dungeon and they still have copies of #1 that go for $25.00.

The "official" price for Issue 1 has been $25 since before I ordered my copy around the time they printed issue 15 or 16 (back when I subscribed to the mag).  They must have printed an insane # of copies of the premier issue.

Never heard of a "softback" Player's Handbook.  Were these published for a foreign market, or some sort of niche market?  :?

UK printings.  Rather uncommon in North America.

Printed in the UK by Games Workshop. They tended to fall apart if opened. At all...

Unfortunately for some reason they don't yet have a "main listing" of The Acaeum for some unknown reason (hidden at Page Not Found / Page Not Found / etc.) whereas various other UK items do.

Can't see why the discrimination there.

Kind of like the original Oriental Adventures?  They broke their bindings if one did something terrible...such as OPEN them.

Also, the 2nd edition AD&D core books tended to fall apart...break right out of their stitchings...if they left the factory.

We used to joke that the Oriental Adventures was like a grenade that would go off in your face if you opened it.

Really? That's weird. My own books suffered from ten years of hard gaming and they're still in one piece. Not quite as indestructable as the 1E books, but still good.

Now, the 2E softcover supplements (brown PHBR, blue DMGR and green HR series), that's a different story.

I've seen a lot of 2nd edition books - some completely beat up with all the pages still firmly attached to the binding and some that look brand new, but have their pages falling out (one 2E PH that was VF/NM except for the fact that all pages had come completely of the binding - it was like a module cover over the pages!)

I imagine TSR made many print runs - especially of the PH & DMG.  Perhaps some weren't as solidly bound as others . . .

The Monstrous Manual has 3 distinct printings, but I only know this because of the obvious differences.  I imagine there must be at least 6-10 print runs of the PH & DMG alone - who could tell . . .
