For all you art collectors out there, here is what looks to be the original artwork form Dragonlance module DL4-Dragons of Desolation:

I am not an expert, so I cant really authenticate it, but it looks real enough. :)

Doesn't look legit to me. Looks like a copy.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Interesting one, if so.

D'you see anything more noteworthy than the forking at the lower end of the lightning bolt and shape of the clouds in that area, esp. to the right, towards the castle? :?

Image cropping? Book??

Definitely a copy David.

Please note no where does the seller suggest it is the original by Keith ...

I am not saying by any means that this is the original artwork for sure, but if it is not a "blown up" copy, then whoever did this work did an amazing replication. Granted it is difficult to tell based on the pictures provided, but it sure seems pretty spot on to me. :?  Might be a good idea to ask the seller some serious questions.

Does anyone know Keith Parkinson to ask him about the painting's provenance?

At such a low starting price with no reserve, either the seller is ignorant or the seller knows he's selling a copy and hoping someone will think its real. I wouldn't be surprised if he blanks the question or replies with the 'I can't be sure but it looks real to me' kind of response. Its a con.

Here's what she said....

It is an actual painting, not a laser printout. You can feel the details of the paint swirls and ridges. As far as "original", I don't have any clue about the origin of this particular painting. So I'm not saying that it's not worth money or if it is. I don't know. But thanks for inquiring about it. If I get anymore info today from my brother who bought it, I will let you know. Thanks again!

So now we know.

There's really not a great deal of difference in price between hand-painted and high quality giclee print.

Present day equivalent for the latter would be $35-58 upwards, say, (in China) for hand-painted in oils;

http://www.art-best.com.cn/price.htm

vs. $94 (in US) for print on canvas;

http://www.onlakegeneva.com/bigpictures.htm

Brings me back to that question on cropping.

1st Edition Monster Manual | eBay

Here is an update on this auction. He is currently emailing me, Badmike, GraysonAC, Cougar, and someone else who I do not know, 8 individual emails of the contents of his collection. If anyone is interested in finding out what is in in it let me know and I will forward his emails to you. Based on what I have received, I seriously do not think it is worth $15,000, but it seems to be pretty large and comprehensive and is probably worth at least $2,000 depending on how the condition of the items pan out.

Yeah, I asked the guy to switch to blind-CC's. Always irks me when someone is spamming my email address into the wild blue yonder.

So far, it doesn't look like it's going to be worth anywhere remotely near his asking price, particularily since we don't have any of the item condition info yet.

What is it about this one that makes it so expensive?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5229506746

   10 modules for $44 each?  What is special about these modules?

It is the last 4 in the list: R-1 To the Aid of Falx, R-2 The Investigation of Hydell, R-3 The Egg of the Phoenix, and R-4 Doc's island.  They each typically go for at least $100+ each and recently as in the last few that sold on EBay, all of them went for $150.00 each. :wink:
