As I stated before, I'd posted the General Forum post before seeing this thread.  Not deleting the other post was an oversight.  That has been corrected.

(Apologies for that BIN....)

The incredible shrinking BIN? Nice catch. Clearly, I still have a lot to learn. :(

Hmm.... Sorry.
Now that was a weird experience.

Had originally just thrown Victor a price range for what shrinked copies have fetched to try to encourage permission to bid. (Was originally U.S. only).
Then at the same time he replied 'bout the "shrink", that $200 BIN was set.

Was open enough to explanation, reduction in BIN to $140 and a deal on shipping, since the original seller was available to discuss.
For the sake of $20 or so, wasn't going to complain.

Very strange indeed....

So.. did you get it Harami? Looks like the auction was closed with 0 bids, so I'm confoozled ;)

There's a "This item or one like it has been relisted" link at the top of the first auction (worth watching out for sometimes, on closed auctions).

Actually they could have put on a BIN without closing the auction, since no bids had been made: many sellers seem to be unaware of that.

That link takes you to
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5224699335

(In other words, yes; and trying not to feel too guilty 'bout that. Would anyone here have paid much more, out of interest?).

Excellent buy, Harami!  Nothing to feel guilty about there.  (I wouldn't have gone higher, I would have tried to weasel it for $30-60...but I'm cheap/poor/sneaky).     So consider yourself honourable for saving the seller from my evil scheming.

Nice buy. Nothing to feel guilty about - if someone doesn't know a fair price for their item, then they're not terribly bright to set a BIN at all.

Thanks. Hmm... Would've thought that was a fair price- within bounds, anyhow- even if it is a very good looking set (at long last!).

Probably as much guilt from slinking a BIN from Tmesis's spot under those circumstances. :?

True enough. Still, I think it's generally considered that anything posted here is "open game". If someone is interested in bidding on something, posting a link to it here is about the last thing you want to do :P

Yeah, is very true, that.

Oh, I have been known to post "interesting items" then bid on them (and win at least once or twice, IIRC). Could be that was a double-bluff strategy without me even knowing!

(I don't just post Allan's watchlist... usually).
aside: I'm still feeling sorry for the seller of those Dragons I mentioned (#74-152) who got $1.98, plus media mail at cost.

   Ouch!  Then again, a lot of folks seem to ask a pretty darn high price for Dragon magazines. One of my FLGS wants $6 each for stuff in the 100-200 range! I could understand that for stuff <50.. but dang.

I'm sitting on boxes of them myself, so if anyone needs any specific issues, I'll probably be offing 'em at $1.50 each, 10 for $10 ;)

I'm putting up close to the entire run in a week or so. I can't decide whether to split them up or not.

I don't think anyone would want the entire run. I'd split up the early ones, and then maybe do the others in 20-mag or even 10-mag bunches. Maybe split up the recent stuff too.

I dunno, that's what I'd do if I was to auction them. I put most of my stuff in store-stock since it's dirt cheap to let sit there until it sells ;)

Nice one, I would have seriously considered the $140 for it if i saw this since they say it is factory sealed still.

The last couple I saw shrinked (which were maybe almost two years ago?) went for $300+ but this summer has been super dry with items and bidders, not to mention a few items/lots selling for a ton of money that for the most part were never considered really valuable with no rhyme or reason.

Im afraid to try and sell any of my extra stuff at the moment.

Man, Dragons are always a tough call. The early ones bring a good return (obviously) and the later ones (anything with 3e coverage) are surprisingly strong, but there's a huge middle ground that's a wasteland.

In my experience, any issue from 70 to about 220 is a total crapshoot — you might get 0 bids, or you might get lucky with someone looking to fill holes in their collection. And the damn things are a pain to ship. YMMV, of course ...

Frank, here's one opinion: I'd consider going with a super-sized lot ... one listing, one shipping price, one seller, one buyer, everything nice and simple. Perhaps a reserve, perhaps not ... anyway, you're guaranteed at least one bid.

Yeah, shipping is the real killer for stuff like that. A $1 magazine is great.. but not when it costs $5 to ship ;)
