Howdy All,

A few additions to the MM entries below. Highlights include a fixed date for the 1st print, the addition of Dave Arneson's name in Gygax's preface, observations on stiching and fabric lining of the spine, book size, and catalog changes. There are other minor characteristics noted as well.  Included at the end are my research sources for fixing the 1st print date to December 1977.

Futures Bright,

Paul

MONSTER MANUAL REFERENCES

"TSR's latest project to date is the MONSTER MANUAL. As I write this the printers are having their difficulties with it but it should be around shortly." (Rob Kuntz, Dragon 11, Dec. 1977)

"The long talked about MONSTER MANUAL is now out in the shops and available by mail. The wait was worth it; the finished product is a radical departure from the norm in wargame publishing." (Timothy Kask, Dragon 12, Feb. 1978)

"ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, MONSTER MANUAL was anticipated to be ready prior to Christmas. (As usual, there were delays, mainly from the printer and the binder.) I am drafting the final manuscript for the player's book, and a rough outline of the referee's volume is on hand, so work on that can commence as soon as the former is completed." (Gary Gygax, Dragon 14, May 1978)
