Hey, "Collector from Spain," I didn't mean to come across as xenophobic! Please excuse me. Good luck with the bidding. This is definitely a once in a lifetime thrill for me as the seller!

For the folks who wanted to see more photos of the booklet with the 6th grade social studies project - my photos are too big to load to this site. If you would like to see them, I don't mind if you send me an email at [email protected], and I will do my best to reply with the photos attached.

And I thought the last one that went for $7200 was an eye opener!  Wild ride here and it isn't over yet!   8O

I thought it may go very high, I was offered $9000 for my copy (which is better than the one listed now) over ten years ago so there is some potential for this to achieve an even higher price!!

Tonight's bidder that seems to have knocked it up over 8k has zero feedback.

The seller has commented on this very website, and im in touch with her through instant messaging. I bet my ass she is totally honest.

I went to 4500 euro (around 4800 bucks), and poor me I thought I had some chances.

I also know at least a couple of big guns that are already in the fight. I got my popcorn ready cos this is gonna get epic.

If you've used your sniping program to enter your bid for you, please click thru an Acaeum eBay link on the final day (24 hours) of the auction, else I won't get credit!

Enough to have bought the entire first print run of these!

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng

Obviously we aren't dealing with average collectors on this item, or it's now between very wealthy individuals in it for nostalgia reasons and money isn't an issue. But speaking about collectors specifically, it's amazing to think what $10,000 could purchase in terms of a D&D collection. Outside a few extremely expensive and rare items I would hazard that 10k could get you a very large collection of nearly all the primary items one might want. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

I'm impressed at how high the 1st woodgrain has gone... and a bit concerned about eventually upgrading mine some day to a better quality.  :-)

Will we see $11k?

I know of a big gun that is lurking in the shadows. I forecasted 10K right when this was posted. I believe we can see it soar over 12K.

The recipe is simple: You just need a couple of wealthy peeps with a serious drive to get this as the crown jewel of their collections, and the war is on.

If you think the collecting drive for this awesomest of games is restricted to the Acaeum walls... well, youre wrong.

I had to try one more time and my last bid pushed it over $10k.  Now, I'm out, lol.

I can't help but watch this, now ~1 hour to go.  This is way too rich for my blood, but it is one hell of a show.

At one hour to go this is strangely exciting to watch. I was really happy to see it break US$10K. Nice little bit of publicity for the collecting side of the hobby.

Cheers,
Curt
