Very true.  With the pump and dump fed working its magic.  The cost of a happy meal will approach triple digits by then as well.

Inflation is affecting collectables, but there is a shift in the allocation of this discretionary pump and dump.

I know an avid collector of ephemera and old signs. He regrets not buying signs for $400 because they are $600 now. $1000 for a Dragon #1 sounds incredible to him. Nice, 70-year-old, porcelain signs go for less.

Pokemon, magic, DnD and video games have become mainstay collectables. Other items, like guns, war items and petrolina have seen prices increase, but nothing like the increase in this white box set.

Maybe its because they dont have a site the the ACAEUM! Or maybe I just have a bias. Wait, I am totally biased.

This is just ridiculous, although since its a 21-day BIN, I assume they're just testing the waters.

Is this one stupid high, or reasonable for an allegedly sealed Holmes 7th? The dice alone go for almost this much...

... and still no takers. Why wouldn't you blow $13 plus shipping on a beat up copy of one of the worst products TSR ever put out?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I don't think they were that terrible.  It is one of D&D's largest worlds so people bought the stuff in large quantities.  Me being one of those people.

I must admit however I have only read a couple of the products.  My group way back when started DL1 but lost interest about half way through so we never finished it.  They wanted to do an epic quest and decided they wanted to run through GDQ1-7.  I found that series extremely difficult to DM.  If I recall correctly, it took about 6 months to complete and there were a ton of hard feelings when most of the group died against Lloth.

I had a similar problem trying to keep a group interested in Planescape when it came out. Just couldn’t get them hooked on the idea of Sigil or any of the detritus in the Planescape boxed set. So ended up running T1-4 instead. Planescape was too much of a gimmick. That’s why it didn’t survive I suppose.

Well of course. You're not supposed to fight Lloth - the PCs should ally themselves with Lloth against the Temple of the Eye (a common enemy), who are the ones responsible for directing the giants' raids on human communities aboveground. If your PCs defeat Lloth, the Temple of the Eye will have greater freedom to conduct raids.

In order to become allied with Lloth, you must first sell your soul, an effort which involves studying the works of Prince, The Time, & Chaka Khan. One must also anoint one's hair with mousse in an asymmetrical manner, & wear jackets with shoulder-pads & little metal bits & straps everywhere. If you remember the '80s, this was the overall strategy taken by many players of the GDQ campaign.

Lol.  The Michael Jackson red jacket with the single glove.  The Gauntlet of Great Die Rolls.
