Happy new year :D

(I'm "not here", btw, but will post this for your reference & amusement, anyhow).

==

I finally got fed-up-sick with cougar for spamming my email account with requests for feedback on item 5926766971.
(TSR AD&D MONSTER MANUAL 2009 VGC CENTAUR MM SOFTY; £4.20)

Item was considerably more faulty than stated, but given that cougar  (userid: cougarrinard) refuses to refund postage and this was a LOW value item, there was absolutely no point in returning it.

I politely requested that he stop spamming me for feedback;

And received a reply implying that he refused to stop spamming my
account until feedback was given.
(Note, the extortion is implicit in that cougar does not state that feedback
must be positive, but given his final response you can draw your own
conclusions).

As requested, feedback was given; merely a NEUTRAL
> Repeat hassles for f/back & refuses to stop sending. Was more faulty than stated

Immediately received a NEGATIVE (somewhat viciously worded, with added lies) from cougar
> not a pleaseant transaction, ignored e-mails, then left bad feedback block wipe
*
To which I replied
> REPORTED SELLER FOR F/BACK EXTORTION & LEFT NEUTRAL F/BACK-REC'D RETALIATORY NEG
*
And cougar (lying again)
> no contact to rectify just bad FB so I cannot recommend so I left - FB sorry 4 U

(additionally cougar, lying a third time, responded to my neutral feedback with;
> no contact to correct despite repeated requests, I could not recommend so - FB

I don't seem to be able to leave any further feedback to clarify the issue, so presumably he gets the last word, twice over... (??)
(hardly fair, that, if so)

Don't you love the added "good feeling" in knowing that you're dealing with an eBay "Power Seller"?
(Put up with spam forever, bribe them with a positive feedback, or kiss goodbye to your own 100% feedback record).

Hope that was worth a smile or two. ;)

Best wishes,
David.

p.s. for the record, I generously rounded up payment on the GW "Monster Manual" and also over-paid on postage and packing.

Does cougar give a damn about that, in terms of a positive transaction?

Nope. Is only interested in his own precious feedback, it would seem... :( :(

How can we block people from bidding on our items on eBay before they leave a bid or cause a direct problem? I had to bear witness to the assault that he went through on the USEnet groups a few months back, and I really don't want to deal with him.

Thanx!

Extort them back. Tell the seller to leave you feedback for your promt payment which is what they are obligated to do anyway. Once they leave it, then tell them if there is a problem with the transaction and if they do not rectify the situation then leave this as a negative feedback... "See my About Me page for details on this negative"...then write a short but descriptive blerb in your about me page on why the negative was given with any extortion policies that the seller uses. This would work for those who do not use the About me page and just clear off those that are over 12 months old because most people would have read them anyway.

They are? Since when? Did eBay alter its user agreement?

Sorry, I'm obviously piling it on a little thick there. But I think it's pretty strong to say a seller is obligated to do anything regarding feedback, regardless of how quickly a payment is received. It's up to the seller how he or she handles eBay transactions — some leave immediate feedback, others (myself included) wait until it has been left by the buyer. This has been discussed more thoroughly in other threads, so I'll just leave it at that.

A final thought, though: be very, very careful with feedback extortion. Perhaps such a thing is justified with a proven idiot like Cougar — hell, it probably is — but it is still a direct violation of the eBay user agreement (I believe eBay calls it "feedback coersion"). I have seen eBay take action on this, believe it or not, and repeated offenses can lead to suspension or outright account freezing.

With bucketheads like Cougar, it's just safer all around to block their bids in the first place — and, of course, never bid on anything they're selling, no matter how tempting. Unless it's the actual #2 pencil EGG used to compose the first draft of D&D, it can always be purchased from another seller.

I don't see it anywhere in My Ebay. Also... what's Cougar's eBay nick?

Go to:

Buyer/Bidder Management

And you'll see a bunch of options. Just follow the link for blocking bidders.

The Coug-man is, I believe, cougarrinard, although I might be spelling that incorrectly.

Hi All,

I bought something from him a while ago, and was then bombarded with
requests for feedback.

Eventually I emailed him saying that it was my policy to only leave feedback after the seller had first done so for my prompt payment.

Needless to say, I got no feedback from him.

He did stop sending me the annoying emails tho.

Cheers,
Malcolm

#1 Why is anyone still dealing with Cougarretard?  Unless it's a unique item or you live in the UK, he's gotten enough bad press over the years to justify staying far away from him. I don't think he's sold anything I've been interested in ever, at least not in the last few years.

#2 If he bombards you with feedback coercion, simply block him by reporting him to Ebay for harrassment.  I had to do this to a moron a few months back who kept asking me why I was charging so much for D&D stuff...kept trying to contact me through ebay and I finally reported him, suddenly he stopped.  End of problem.

#3 If he wants feedback, use the Badmike3 patented 90 day rule.  You can leave feedback up to 90 days from sale....for those special idiots who sell me crap or don't pay for their items they buy, I mark ahead on my calendar 89 days....then blast them with a nasty neg that 89th night.  Rarely do they notice the neg fast enough to retaliate.  Done it dozens of times now, never been hit with retalitory neg in return yet.

#4 Yes you can block bidders. There should be a link on the general help page I believe.

#5 Again, why is anyone still doing business with Cougar retard?

Mike B.

(1) bid his dumbass up on everything he bids on thats worth a damn :D

(2) maybe ask a friend who has a bs ebay account to snipe all his auctions one week with bids like 500+ so ya win every one :D  then leave him like 200 negative feedbacks lol... I wouldn't do this one myself.. well i wouldnt admit to it but couger has it comming lol.

(3) mail him a big box of shit :D

He's refused to leave me feedback for prompt payment until I left him feedback for the sale.  Funny how it doesn't wuite work the other way around. :(

Anyway I'm just glad to see that no has suggested spamming his email account by signing his email address up to lots of porn etc sites.

I blocked him from bidding on my auctions, since he has a tendancy to drop in a lowball bid right away, removing the BIN option for anyone who might be interested. He did this to me about three or four times in a row before I got sick of it.

After I blocked him, he sent me a number of emails asking why I did this to him. I ignored him, and he eventually stopped. It was worth it. I see no point in doing any business with the guy. I'd rather see my sales go to people who will actually enjoy the items.

Sounds like a plan, but the coug's retaliatory negative arrived TWO minutes after I gave him the (neutral) feedback which he insisted that I left.
(Thought that was rather generous, actually, since I'd "thrown away" $23 on a mis-described item that had zero return value, given his policies).

So much for his false complaints at lack of contact, given that he didn't think for a second to re-check why I'd given him that "bad" (sic) feedback before nuking me...

=

*sigh*. So he's just gonna keep creaming off the positive feedback and appear to be a 99+% positive feedback "Power Seller", then, despite not a single good word from anyone here, especially on his feedback tactics??  :(
Thanks for all the thoughts/confirmations on that. Any more would be appreciated, "for the record".

Well, hopefully that's enough warning, now, regardless of whether he is sometimes capable of good transactions...

Regards,
David.
