The next step would be for an author to come on board, liaise with Steve, flesh out and rewrite Planes of Existance in Steve/EGG's original image. That author would need to be an established one, and not a hobbiest, to do the work justice, and in light of the sheer volume of work required. Then Mike, Steve and onboard author need to discuss terms for dealing with revenue generated, and if at that point it is seen that an investor is needed, how that investor is cut in. As regards everyone else who may contribute, they presumably can work for complementary copies.

The core working team will be Steve, Mike, and your author, and all need to feel happy and possitive about the project. If someone is going to push this forward, they have a lot of heartache ahead. As if either Steve or Mike pull out, the project falls on it's face.

Incidentally, there is a stack of relevant info strewn across back issues of Alarums & Excursions. Someone with access and who knows what they are looking for needs to dig through and pull out the titbits. Unfortunately, my collection of that publication makes for less than a very small hill of beans.

From what I recall, the info published in A&E was mostly relevant to the Revenant campaign environ and the back story. Can you confirm this, Rakeesh?

Steve has expressed an interest in TLG developing the products, and if the project requires funding, they are more stable than some to be able to underwrite a project. And they appear to have the writers to do the job.

Can't believe I stumbled upon this...

Document Not Found

But it's the PDF version of Steve Marsh's Mistworld, and it seems to have been uploaded by Steve himself. That does beg the question, does Steve and Paul have PDF copies of Revenant and Planes of Existance? I would imagine they do.

Alas, they do not.  The Mistworld material is a pdf of a copy I kept.  Paul only has it if he downloaded it himself.

Otherwise, the only material I have is what you can find online at Ere Anon -- Stories and Steve Marsh's Heroquest Home Page! -- and some misc. material still with Paul these days for another auction of bits and pieces and such.  Paul has had much more important things to do.

Stephen

Shucks. I was hoping we might see Planes of Existence as a real product. It would make for good reading and a different slant on how you and Garry saw D&D and the Cosmos at the time.

I'd be glad to work on it if there was an interest.  "Will work for feedback" is my motto.

Wolf Tales has some things that touch on the planes (and other things as well).

E.g.:  Reunion

Where they end up on the plane of ice for a brief time.

The original Planes of Reality documents are still missing.  I was hoping to find them in storage or to get them back from Mayfair.  So far I've had no luck.  One more copy of Mistworld has surfaced.  I'm mailing Paul my orange cover copy of Palace of the Porno Princess (ok, bad joke) and some misc. stuff one keeps around for 1E players and my first printing Player's Handbook.

Out of curiousity, what did the copy of Mistworld auctioned by Paul lo these many years ago bring in?  And if this copy of Mistworld that Steve mentions above was available, what could one expect to get for it????

More info later depending on circumstances....

Just to follow up, Steve has sent NTRPG con his last copy of Mistworld so we can auction or sell it. I was floored. Thanks Steve!

It is the last remaining original copy, printed on a dot matrix and the one the PDF was generated from.

Glad you enjoyed the books -- I wanted to give you a pleasant surprise. I figured another sword would not surprise any one so I sent you the original and the last remaining copy of Mistworld in my possession.

I am grateful you put the con on.

Think of what I sent as my gift back to you.

That's great news, Mike.  Perhaps that opens the door to assemble some of these other mss. and get some publishing going?

I know Doug has all of Steve's notes that were auctioned by Paul many years ago, I guess the next step would be to talk to Steve and see if it would be ok to scan a bunch of it relating to Mistworld or other Marsh projects, and publish it for Steve, if he gave his permission. Anything relating to the history of RPGs, always good to see it in as many hands as possible so the knowledge doesn't disappear forever.

I wasn't aware that Doug had consolidated that much of Steve's materials, which is great news.  Coordinating that effort was always one of the bigger hurdles to publishing Mistworld, the Planes of Existence, City of the Revenant, etc., even with the multiple owners being interested in seeing such an effort happen.
