Not at all, anytime! Those are cool. I think that stipple work looks great. For the TSR inks/mixed media paintings, Fabian did a variety. I know there was more stippling he used in some of the early Gazetteers as well as the N4 Treasure Hunt module and also in at least one of the books for the later Endless Quest series (the Werewolf one with the Hildebrandt cover). I think there were some ones for some Dragonlance novels too where he used that technique.

Another artist who I thought did great ink work was Tony Szczudlo, but I want to say more of his stipple ink work was done in FASA manuals. Can't remember if there were any Birthright pieces where he did that off the top of my head. There were a couple of Jeff Easley inks too where he did that. I'm sure they were all big fans of Virgil Finlay's.

Any chance of posting a pic of that MM cover that could be used for computer wallpaper? I'd love to colorize it and wall paper the laptop with it. And the PC. And the house. LOL!

There is a guy over on Dragonsfoot who has created some "Homage Paintings" of classical D&D art-work which are fairly good re-workings including the MM cover.  He posted that image recently here:

Maybe you could use that image for your computer wallpaper, or maybe you could request a copy in a higher resolution.   :?

finally got a chance to get back to this thread...
I'll mostly keep to TSR D&D-related stuff ... mostly  :)
Having said that, hopefully you'll like an historically-themed piece by Jeff Easley from 1983 (there's a bit of glare going on the left side from my camera unfortunately)
Jeff created this sweet ink for TSR's SPI box set "Wellington's Victory: Battle of Warloo Game" (done in india ink on vellum, and fairly big -- almost 11x14)

Those are beautiful paintings. I particularly like the David and Goliath piece. Do you know if that was used in a published book?

Cheers,
Curt

In addition to the recent auctions and past art sold on NK, the following photos below are the remaining Dungeon board game "prototype" ink/paintings I know of. I believe these five plus the ones I will post from NK were used for a presentation. Then much further work was done to create the final art for the landscape box version that was released.

Speaking of Larry Elmore with the recently released Red box concept art, here is a drawing commission from last year

Well considering that Elmore is top artist for this segment, what are the rates for an artwork of Larry? How much did the acaeum committee paid for his artwork? Was it a drawing? Size?
Just curious to compare this artist with other "more general" artists...
Thanks

The size of the drawing is big, the size of a painting. Around 24" x 18". This was a personal commission, not through the Acaeum. Unfortunately, I can't quote the rate.

Very nice! Was it a commission for you, Misterspock? Or someone you know? Is it a scene or characters from a personal campaign? Looks great!

The Acaeum project fee was disclosed in the thread, I can't remember what it was offhand. I would imagine a personal commission would vary widely depending on size and media, someday I am hopeful of commissioning a piece from Mr. Elmore myself.
