Well, let's see what actually shows up in these boxes.  Apparently my expert set is complete with 285 color counters.

I particularly like the description for Alpha Dawn: "This game requires no gameboard because the action takes place in the player's imagination with planetary adventures in alien worlds as the main event."

Nice. . .  :D

Methinks the color counters go to the Knight Hawks game in the same auction.

They're not saying they have the original cover artwork, they're just saying it's the first version of the module.  There's two versions of X1, the blue (1980) and the red (1983, I believe) with different art.  Otherwise they're pretty much identical, and neither has much value.

Words that should be governed by eBay-

I typed these words into the eBay searcher under Role Playing, and it's amazing how most of these don't fit the description:

Rare -- 860 items
Very Rare -- 29 items
Ultra Rare -- 28 items
Unique -- 5 items

How to host a murder -58 items

Webster's Definition:

Main Entry: 1rare
Pronunciation: 'rar, 'rer
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): rar•er; rar•est
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin rarus
1 : marked by wide separation of component particles : THIN <rare air>
2 a : marked by unusual quality, merit, or appeal : DISTINCTIVE b : superlative or extreme of its kind
3 : seldom occurring or found : UNCOMMON
synonym see CHOICE, INFREQUENT
- rare•ness noun

Feel free to add -

As annoying and misleading as those words can be, they're also sort of baffling, at least in terms of trying to maximize a seller's eBay potential.

The title-search remains the most popular type of search on eBay. With that in mind, why would anyone bother to waste space with RARE! or L@@K! ?? There's only so many characters allowed in any listing title, for crying out loud. And it's not like anyone has ever sat down and said, "Hmmm ... I think I'll do a search for RARE! Yeah, that's the ticket — I want to buy something — anything! — that's rare!" It's a total waste of four characters (or five with the punctuation).

I always shake my head when I see this:
D&D module — RARE!

When it could have been this:
TSR AD&D module S2 White Plume Mountain (Erol Otus art)

Like the RARE! somehow will draw buyers to the first example. What are these people thinking?  :?:  :?:
