I stopped using "rare" in any of my descriptions years ago, seeing it as an unforgivable waste of four precious item-title characters. Just using our little world as an example, those characters can be put to better use with terms such as "TSR," "D&D," "AD&D," a four-digit TSR product code, etc., etc. Almost anything else would be better.

Plus, the term has no meaning on eBay. It's entirely subjective and woefully over-used. Consider that, at this moment in time:

*365,239 items have "rare" in their titles;
*40,234 of those are in Toys & Hobbies;
*3,572 of those are in Games;
*and 1,127 of those are in Role-playing.

That doesn't fit any definition of the word I'm familiar with.

Yup.  I wonder if it's the whole book, or just the back cover.  Sounds crazy to us, but I bet there's someone out there that collects "vintage comic-book advertisements"...and please let me know if you find them.  :twisted:

Ebay is one giant mousetrap, and this sort of auction is a nice example.

I just wish I was a trapper, not a mouse.

Saw those last week and just sighed...

then I figured that they were meant to be there as they could be used by the "stereotypical" gamer still living in his mom's basement at 45 with no friends....just prop them ( don't forget Enrique ) up across the table from you and "presto" instant gaming group  :lol:

Whining ego-maniacs?  Wild and illogical gyrations?   Detachment from reality?

  Rick and Enrique sound like ideal gaming buddies!   :lol:

I made the mistake of clicking before reading the link.  I may have to see counseling and might actually be scared for life.

Nothing against P-town, we have ( wifey and me ) strong ties to there but....I know many of our friends just loooovvvvveeee Ricky & Enrique :)

Speaking of cheap sleeps there, back in the 80's you used to be able to "sneak" into the Pilgrim Tower and sleep in there. A little unnerving sleeping on those  ramp-stairs going up but a great view to watch a sunrise from.

There is a huge market in magazine advertisments.  You see them in most of the antique malls or and even smaller shops. It is a specialized market but there is money to be made teraing the old magazines apart and selling the individual advertisments. I guess it might eventually migrate into the comic book arena. It seems a crime to me but I am a book/magazine nut.

Heh, I will be making my annual voyage to the Cape in less than 6 weeks now. :)

OK....lessons gleaned by a westerner from this strand, about the Cape Cod region:

1)  Something there is called "Pea-Town."

2)  There is a place called Pilgrim's Tower that looks about as "pilgrim" as Kiss looks Amish.

3)  It is a community that tends to lean toward the Ricky Martin side of the fence.

4)  People apparently go there to sleep as cheaply as possible.

   Yah, alles ganz klar.
