I tossed an opening bid on it myself so as to attempt to prevent another Ebay disappearing act and forgot completely about it myself. :?   That sellers 1st print EW went for a song as well:

The 1st print Blackmoor they had up did quite well in contrast:

What makes it really strange it that, its not even like any of them were mislisted or even poorly described.  Nice fairly clear pictures all listed in the D&D category. Go figure.  :?

Yeah, I'm really surprised to see those prices, considering what a2jeff recently sold his for.

which was still much nicer copy? say you will be happy not want to upgrade later?? :)

all firsts in latest auctions have aging and minor damage. $32 not bad for eldritch wizardry but blackmoor @$124 in similar = too much

in the print junkie scheme at first it's just about covering the bases but in the long haul it's all about condition.

IMHO a near mint is worth 5x an excellent one

when i was last over in london i crashed at red_bus's pad and saw his first print woodgrain ... it was near mint & worth every penny. I was well impressed

Nice pickup Grodog.

I had that in my watch list and was going to buy it if I got outbid on an auction I was bidding on.  I did get outbid but alas...I waited too long.

Congrats, Steven, on the Character Archaic.  Looks like a really nice copy!   :D

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Be sure to let us know what the seller meant by this copy not matching the descriptions of any of the printings listed here.  Might be very interesting...

Thanks Stephen - I think I saw you appear on on the list, apologies if we went head to head.

I had a look at this thread earlier on

The Character Archaic Print Sequence • Collecting General - Non TSR •  The Acaeum

...and there seems to be quite a variation on what was printed and when.  To be honest, it is a wee bit of a gamble, not sure exactly which version it might be.  But, I do love that early stuff.  :D

Perhaps I could buy you a beer or two in a Danish bar to make amends  :D

Congrats on the CA win, as Stephen says it looks like a nice copy.  I flogged a bid in but alas.
