It was the heat of battle that got you, Red Bus.   8O

Nothing makes an item more desireable than the possibility that someone else desires it...fires the warrior blood in a collector!   :D

Still...it's a pretty nice first print.   :?

it's not a matter if the price has to be considere "silly"... it's the huge amount as itself that shocks me...  8O

i recently bought a white box and all the supplements (ok, not in perfect conditions but two of the supplement were 1st print too!) for 270 USD and it seemed to me yet expensive...

Didn't Burnie's NM Greyhawk First Print sell last year for $120?

well...at the end of the day, if the winner is happy with the item then the cost that they paid (crazy or not), is justified.

i spend a lot on items from time to time and simply have to say i dont regret any of them at all...well mebbe one (no david we dont need to go there  :P )

I think I paid over $200 for it, maybe $220, but can't remember.

Nice win, though, Steven!  It looks like a beauty.

Wow, I am surpised this auction went this cheap:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Grnated the White Bear and Red Moon was both mispelled in the auction title and incomplete, but with that Wyrms Footnotes #1 in there, I figured that this was going to end up going for a lot more than it did.  I am little pissed at myself for not setting a snipe. :?

How about when Ebay tells you to bid, say, a dollar higher (I.e. high bid is $20.00, you are supposed to bid at least $21.00)--and someone comes along after you bid and bids $20.01?  (No, I don't mean a bid you put in, say, two days earlier--someone snipes in five minutes AFTER you and his bid's one PENNY higher!)  I lost three auctions that way, where someone bid after I did and only went up a penny or a nickel.

Doesn't ebay have a way when you bid to force you to raise your bid by the minimum, whether it's 25 cents, $1.00, $5.00, etc?[/u]

Not to change the subject:  I see all of these prices in US$, AU$, UK pounds, etc.--anyone forget what monetary units they were bidding in and say "WHY DID I DO THAT @%$#@% THING???"

I forgot to while bidding to convert GB Pounds to US Dollars (I was using a  US$1.85=GBP 1.00 rough conversion) AND forgot to account for shipping costs from England in the same auction!!!  I sent an email through ebay to the seller questioning why high costs;  he replied good-naturedly that I had forgotten the conversion rate to US dollars!!    (and it was a boxed set, not individual books.)  DUUHHH!!!

Ebay forces you to enter a certain amount more than the current bid.  If the current bid was $20 the next bidder would not be able to bid $20.01.  However, if the current bid was $15 (with a max of $20) then the next bidder who put in a max of $20.01 would then win at $20.01 because their bid would be higher than yours.

Here is an example:

eBay.com Item Bid History

When I bid, the auction was at $26.10.  Having looked at the other auction the current bidder got outbid on, I figured his high bid would be $30.  So I entered a bid of $30.01 and ended up winning.  If there is room to push the current bid up to the next interval then Ebay will but they do cap at the bidders highest amount.  Anyone looking at the bid history could tell that $30.01 was my maximum since it was not $1 more than the previous bid.

Hope that helps.
