WOW!!

I watched the auction during the last 5 minutes and with 7 seconds left it was only at $315

someone MUST have snipped it...at the last possible second, but what a mark up in just 7 seconds!!!!

Does snipping really work like that?

Indeed.... And prices would be lower if everyone did so (*dodges thrown tomatoes from sellers*).

WOW!!

To quote a reseller's PM:
"With the fact that a 3rd print Woodgrain sold at GenCon this year for $1300 we will have to pass on your offers, sorry. "

The box is a bit of a mess (OK, have seen worse, admittedly), but the contents are in very good condition.
Wasn't going to be less than $425-450, I think, despite the current Acaeum "estimate" and my recent 2nd print purchase (with stated-earlier-state woodgrain box) at around the same money.

Am still trying to figure out what happened to John...

I was thinking about bidding 350 or so but when I saw the final price I am happy I didnt even try :)

And yes, thats how sniping works. But he still had 8 seconds left on the clock *g*

When it was first listed at just under a grand BIN, I emailed them to say that a 3rd print with the box in that condition would be lucky to reach half that. I asked if they would consider an offer. They said that they would stay with the listing. So, I was never going to bid out of principle. I was actually hoping that it went sub $300. I suppose it's called cutting off your nose etc.  :?

Heh; and the same seller's 1st print Blackmoor just went for $102.50.

Now /that's/ pushing things, IMHO...

(Watching the desperate last-minute manual bids was interesting).

$899.95 including the supplements and Chainmail was undoubtedly extremely optimistic, based on Mike <improvstone>'s recent purchase without anything like that condition (as noted, before).
JMO, of course...

I am not paying $500+ for any TSR item that has been taped. If I bid more than $100 on something, it has got to be solid and without major damage.

It would bug me constantly that my little prize was tarnished. I just don't need/want them that bad.

With that in mind, I think he did just fine.

$100 for a 1st print Blackmoor seems high, but I've got one so I am not complaining.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

All this makes me VERY optimistic as to the probable relative value of my Excellent Condition Third Print Wood Grain Box Set (Books Near Mint)

and even more so of my Near Mint Condition Second Print Wood Grain Box Set....(Books-Mint).

Cool.....  8)

I recently had an offer of +/- $1000-1200 in trade value for the second print WGBS and a first edition Chainmail (Near Mint). I reluctantly turned it down thinking it was a tad low.....

Very Cool indeed.....  8)    8)

Wow, I've got a woody! 8O

Thanks for deimos3428 for pointing this out in a PM.

I've just got back after a couple of days away. I'd completely forgotten that I'd left a snipe.

Nice surprise.  OK, it's no beauty but the price reflects this.

Will definitely be concentrating on getting rid of some of my surplus stuff over the next few weeks.  But it seems like I'm not the only one.

Congrats, John. You took your time! :P

Erm, you "forgot" about your snipe, though?? ;)

Yeah, should've been more like $260-280 I think, even in that (apparent) condition.
Seller's mis-spelling of "Dungeon & Dragon" and "Dungeon & Dragons" probably didn't help much, nor did their decision not to provide better scans.

Just mentally count the woodgrain against that Dragon #1 you managed to magic $180 for. (Shouldn't be any surprise that got better money in the UK than it would have in the US).

Wonder how much you can flog the extra set of 3rd edition books for...?

I did actually forget.  Well, it sort of got pushed out of my head by other stuff.  I was away to see my Mum and my sister to tell them that I'm going to be a dad!  :D

Looks like I'm going to have to get all those jobs done that I've been putting off.  And I've only got 6 months to do them.

Sorry, John. I forgot I was respond to this one tonight!!

Congratulations! Yup, that's a good enough reason to "forget". Sounds like you've got you've priorities right, there... :)

So, da cougar'll have competition for those vouchers now...? 8)

Hopefully he will be competing with Kathleen.  I want nothing at all to do with nappies.  Just need to set her up on eBay.

Good point.  Coventry can't be any worse than Leicester.  I've already told K that when her waters break  :? we're getting in the car and driving North.  Although she wants to head South.  But at least we're agreed on not having a Leicester baby.

It will be the 1st.  K just had the 1st scan.  14 weeks.  I don't think that you can have it sexed until the 2nd scan.  Doesn't matter though.  I don't mind what it is.  And Leicester Health Authority have a policy of non-disclosure due in main to a small minority of Leicester's large ethnic communities who were acting on the knowledge.  :x
